Maryland Route 392
Maryland Route 392 (MD 392) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The state highway runs from MD 16 in East New Market east to the Delaware state line at Reliance, where the highway continues east as Delaware Route 20 (DE 20). MD 392 connects East New Market with Hurlock as well as Seaford, Delaware via DE 20. The state highway was constructed from Finchville to Reliance in the early 1930s. MD 392 was extended west to Hurlock in 1951 and to East New Market in 1957. Route description MD 392 begins at an intersection with MD 16 (Mount Holly Road) just outside the town of East New Market. The state highway heads east as the East New Market Bypass, a two-lane undivided road. After passing Linkwood Road, MD 392 curves to the northeast and parallels the Seaford Line of the Maryland and Delaware Railroad as the highway passes through the outer edge of East New Market. Seaford is a city located along the Nanticoke River in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. According to the 2010 Census Bureau figures, the population of the city is 6,928, an increase of 3.4% from the 2000 census. It is part of the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the largest city fully within Sussex County and was voted the 28th Best Small Town in America. Maryland Route 577 (MD 577) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Reliance Road, the state highway runs from MD 392 at Reliance north to MD 313 near Federalsburg. MD 577 follows the Dorchester– Caroline county line for its entire length. The state highway is considered to be in Caroline County for maintenance purposes. Maryland Route 331 (MD 331) is a state highway on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in the United States. Signed north-south, the route runs from Vienna in Dorchester County northwest to Easton in Talbot County, intersecting U.S. Route 50 (US 50) at both ends. Maryland Route 14 (MD 14) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The state highway runs from MD 16 near Secretary east to MD 313 in Eldorado. MD 14 connects those two towns with the towns of East New Market and Brookview in northern Dorchester County. The state highway also shares a concurrency with MD 331 between the communities of Rhodesdale and Shiloh Church. Maryland And Delaware Railroad
The Maryland and Delaware Railroad Company is a Class III short-line railroad, formed in 1977 to operate several branch lines of the former Penn Central Railroad in both Maryland and Delaware, United States. These branches were omitted from the system plan for Conrail in 1976 and would have been discontinued without state subsidies. As an alternative to the higher cost of subsidizing Conrail as the operator of the branch lines, the Maryland and Delaware governments selected the Maryland and Delaware Railroad Company (MDDE) to serve as the designated operator. The railroad did not own any of the track it uses until 2000 when it acquired a line between Frankford, Delaware and Snow Hill, Maryland, from the Snow Hill Shippers Association. Delaware Route 20 (DE 20) is an east–west state highway in Sussex County, Delaware. Its western terminus is the Maryland state line in Reliance, where it continues as Maryland Route 392 (MD 392). Its eastern terminus is DE 54 west of Fenwick Island. The route runs through rural areas of Sussex County and passes through the towns of Seaford, Millsboro, and Dagsboro. DE 20 intersects U.S. Route 13 (US 13) in Seaford, US 9 in Hardscrabble, US 113 and DE 24/ DE 30 in Millsboro, DE 26 in Dagsboro, and DE 17 in Roxana.
