Maryland Route 298
Maryland Route 298 (MD 298) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The highway runs from MD 20 near Fairlee east to MD 291 near Chesterville. MD 298 is a C-shaped highway that connects Fairlee, MD 213, and Millington with several villages in northern Kent County, including Butlertown, Lynch, and Still Pond. The highway also provides a bypass of Chestertown between the western and eastern parts of the county. MD 298 was built from Fairlee to MD 292 near Still Pond around 1930 and reconstructed in the early 1950s. The highway was extended eastward to MD 566 east of Still Pond in the mid-1950s, to MD 213 in the early 1960s, and to MD 291 in the late 1980s. Maryland And Delaware Railroad
The Maryland and Delaware Railroad Company is a Class III short-line railroad, formed in 1977 to operate several branch lines of the former Penn Central Railroad in both Maryland and Delaware, United States. These branches were omitted from the system plan for Conrail in 1976 and would have been discontinued without state subsidies. As an alternative to the higher cost of subsidizing Conrail as the operator of the branch lines, the Maryland and Delaware governments selected the Maryland and Delaware Railroad Company (MDDE) to serve as the designated operator. The railroad did not own any of the track it uses until 2000 when it acquired a line between Frankford, Delaware and Snow Hill, Maryland, from the Snow Hill Shippers Association. Hopeful Unity is a historic house at 25789 Lambs Meadow Road in Worton, Maryland. It is a three-story brick building, three bays wide, with a -story kitchen ell. The main house is generally believed to have been built about 1761, after the property was purchased by Charles Groome. The ell may encapsulate an even older structure. Christ Church, Graveyard And Sexton's House
Christ Church, Graveyard and Sexton's House is an historic Episcopal church complex located at Worton, Kent County, Maryland. The church, also known as Christ Church IU, is a small brick structure, basilican in plan, with a narrower sanctuary appended. It was built in 1765 (more likely 1845–1870) to serve as the parish church of Chester Parish which had been established that same year. It is a well-proportioned example of a small Gothic Revival structure interpreted in brick. The Sexton's house dates from the period of the earlier church and consists of two adjoining sections, one brick and one stone, both one story high with dormers. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. In 1835, the church sold part of its lands adjacent to the highway to the town's United Methodist church for its graveyard.
