Maryland Route 124 (MD 124) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The highway runs from Maryland Route 28, MD 28 in Darnestown, Maryland, Darnestown north to Maryland Route 108, MD 108 in Damascus, Maryland, Damascus. MD 124 connects the central and northern Montgomery County, Maryland, Montgomery County communities of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Gaithersburg, Montgomery Village, Maryland, Montgomery Village, Redland, Maryland, Redland, Laytonsville, Maryland, Laytonsville, and Damascus. The route is a major conduit on the western and northern sides of Gaithersburg, where the highway serves the National Institute of Standards and Technology and Lakeforest Mall and connects with Interstate 270 (Maryland), Interstate 270 (I-270) and Maryland Route 355, MD 355. Darnestown is a United States census-designated place (CDP) and an unincorporated area in Montgomery County, Maryland. Brunswick Line
The Brunswick Line is a MARC commuter rail line between Washington, D.C., and Martinsburg, West Virginia, with a branch to Frederick, Maryland. It primarily serves the northern and western suburbs of Washington. MARC (Maryland Area Rail Commuter) is a commuter rail system in the Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area. The Metropolitan Subdivision is a railroad line owned and operated by CSX Transportation in the District of Columbia and the U.S. state of Maryland. Maryland Route 119 (MD 119) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Also known as Great Seneca Highway, the highway runs from MD 28 in Rockville north to Middlebrook Road in Germantown. MD 119 is a four- to six-lane divided highway that connects several residential and commercial neighborhoods in Rockville, Gaithersburg, and Germantown. Great Seneca Highway was planned by Montgomery County in the late 1960s as a local relief route for traffic on parallel Interstate 270 (I-270) between the three communities. North Potomac, Maryland
North Potomac is a census-designated place and unincorporated area in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. It is located less than north of the Potomac River, and is about from Washington, D.C. It has a population of 23,790 as of 2020. The region's land was originally used for growing tobacco, which was replaced by wheat and dairy farming after the soil became depleted. The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal was used by local farmers to ship their grain (or flour made from the grain at the local mills), and two former canal locks are located less than away in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park.
