''Mary White'' is a 1977 made-for-TV period biographical movie directed by Jud Taylor about American newspaper editor and author William Allen White (played by Ed Flanders) and his teenage daughter Mary (played by Kathleen Beller), who died at age 16 in a horseback riding accident. The film is based on the true story of White's daughter Mary Katherine, who died in 1921 and was the subject of a well-known eulogy written by her father. Jud Taylor
Judson Taylor (February 25, 1932August 6, 2008) was an American actor, television director, and television producer. Early years Born in New York City, Taylor graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. Career Taylor is perhaps best known for his directorial work on 1960s television shows such as ''Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek'', ''Dr. Kildare (TV series), Dr. Kildare'', and ''The Man from U.N.C.L.E.''. In the early 2000s, he directed several episodes of ''Law and Order: Special Victims Unit''. Taylor also directed more than 40 made-for-TV movies, including the award-winning ''Tail Gunner Joe'' and ''Foxfire (1987 film), Foxfire'', and the final film appearances of both Susan Hayward in ''Say Goodbye, Maggie Cole'' (1972)) and David Janssen in ''City in Fear'' (1980)). Kaki Hunter (born Katherine Susan Hunter; November 6, 1955) is an American actress, architect, and writer, perhaps best known for her role in the trilogy of ''Porky's'' films in the 1980s.
