Mary Spiteri
Mary Spiteri (born 25 October 1947) is a Maltese singer and television personality from Naxxar. She has participated in various national and international music festivals, one of which she came third when representing Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest. She is known for her support for the Labour Party in her home country. Eurovision and later Spiteri represented Malta in the 1992 Eurovision Song Contest held in Malmö, Sweden, with the song " Little Child". Spiteri finished in third place behind Ireland and the United Kingdom. But 1992 was not Spiteri's first attempt at Eurovision. In 1971, she participated in the Maltese heat of Eurovision with the song "Min Int?" (Who Are You?). Another attempt was made in 1975 when Spiteri performed two songs in the Maltese final, "Live For Tomorrow" and "Try a Little Love Today". Naxxar
Naxxar ( mt, In-Naxxar) is a small city in the Northern Region of Malta, with a population of 14,891 people as of March 2014. The Naxxar Church is dedicated to Our Lady of Victories. The annual village feast is celebrated on 8 September. Naxxar was formerly known for hosting the Maltese International Trade Fair at Maltese International Trade Fair Grounds. Malta took part at the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 in Millstreet, Ireland. Their entry was singer William Mangion with the song "This Time". Before Eurovision National final The final was held on 13 March 1993 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, hosted by John Demanuele and Marija Bugeja. The songs were firstly performed in Maltese, then in English. Only the top 3 were announced. William Mangion (born 24 August 1958 in Naxxar) is a Maltese singer, best known for presenting Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 The Eurovision Song Contest 1993 was the 38th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. The Eurovision Song Contest 1992 was the 37th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Malmö, Sweden, following the country's victory at the with the song "" by Carola. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (SVT), the contest was held at the Malmö Isstadion on 9 May 1992 and was hosted by Swedish journalists Lydia Capolicchio and Harald Treutiger. Twenty-three countries took part in the contest with the returning after being absent the year before. This set another record for the most participating countries in the history of the competition, which would be broken again the following year. The 1992 contest also saw the last participation of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, as they were banned from competing only a few weeks later due to the Yugoslav Wars.
