Mary R. Koch
''Mary R. Koch'' was a combined ore carrier and oil tanker. The ship was named after Mary Robinson Koch, wife of American industrialist Fred C. Koch. ''Mary R. Koch'' was built at the Uljanik, Brodogradiliste l Tvornica Dizel Motora shipyard in Pula in Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, (now Croatia). Her two sister ships, ''Tafala'' and ''Torne'' were delivered to the Swedish company Trafikaktiebolaget Grengesberg in 1974. A further sister ship named ''Kanchenjunga'' was built as a pure oil carrier with no ore capability. Under Greek management ''Mary R. The Koch family ( ) is an American family engaged in business, best known for their political activities and their control of Koch Industries, the 2nd largest privately owned company in the United States (with 2019 revenues of $115 billion). AB Karlstads Mekaniska Werkstad (''trans.'' Karlstad Mechanical Works Ltd), known as Kamewa, was a Swedish manufacturing company in the city of Kristinehamn. Uljanik
Uljanik was a shipbuilding company in Pula, Croatia. History Uljanik was founded in 1856, in the carefully selected bay of Pula (then known as Pola) as a shipyard of the Austro-Venetian Navy (from 1867 to 1918 Austro-Hungarian Navy). The foundation stone was laid on December 9 by Empress Elisabeth of Austria so, this date is celebrated as the anniversary of the shipyard, one of the oldest operational shipyards in the world. Almost two years after laying the foundation stone – on October 5, 1858, the first ship – – having a deadweight of 5,194 tonnes, was launched from the berth.
