''Mary Joanna'' is an ep released in 1992 by The Stairs. As with other ''Stairs'' releases, it was issued in several formats: CD single, 7" vinyl, and 12" vinyl. The 7" vinyl release came with ''Stairtex Record Cleaner'' enclosed, supposedly a cd cleaner on one side, and a vinyl record cleaner on the other. The cleaner was actually a piece of sandpaper, the coarse side of which was supposed to be used to 'clean' cds. Songs ''I Can Only Give You Everything'' is a song originally performed by Them on their ''Them Again'' album and released in 1966. It was written by Phil Coulter (who also wrote the winning song from the 1967 Eurovision Song Contest, '' Puppet on a String'' performed by Sandie Shaw) and Tommy Scott, musician and producer. The Stairs
The Stairs are an English rock band, formed in Liverpool in 1990 by vocalist and bassist Edgar "Summertyme" Jones, guitarist Ged Lynn and drummer Paul Maguire. The band released one album and a handful of singles, prior to Lynn's departure in 1993 and their eventual split the following year. The Stairs reformed in 2015, playing a one-off gig at The Kazimier in Liverpool before announcing a 2016 UK tour and headline appearance at the Le Beat Bespoké festival in London. Go! Discs was a London-based record label, launched in 1983 from offices in Wendell Road, Shepherd's Bush, by Andy Macdonald and Lesley Symons. The pair founded the label after Macdonald left his job as press officer at Stiff Records, and Symons provided the seed funding. The first signing to the label was Billy Bragg and early releases also came from Sheffield band The Box and Hull band The Housemartins. Records by the latter's spin-off group The Beautiful South were subsequently issued. ''Last Time Around'' is the third and final studio album by the Canadian-American folk rock band Buffalo Springfield, released in July 1968. The line-up at the time officially consisted of Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Richie Furay, Dewey Martin, Bruce Palmer, and Jim Messina, though the band itself was essentially broken up and the album was put together from previous recordings, some made up to a year earlier. Jim Messina acted as the album producer and mixing engineer, with input from Furay, as the two compiled the record to fulfil the band's last contractual obligation to its label. Them (band)
Them were a rock group formed in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in April 1964, most prominently known for the rock standard "Gloria (Them song), Gloria" and launching singer Van Morrison's musical career. The original five-member band consisted of Morrison, Alan Henderson, Ronnie Milling, Billy Harrison and Eric Wrixon. Them scored two UK hits in 1965 with "Baby, Please Don't Go" (UK No. 10) and "Here Comes the Night" (UK No. 2; Ireland No. 2). The latter song and "Mystic Eyes" were top 40 hits in the US. Morrison quit the band in 1966 and went on to a successful career as a solo artist. Despite their relatively few hit singles, the Belfast group had considerable influence on other bands, such as the Doors. The band's 1964 recording of "Gloria (Them song), Gloria" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. Them Again
''Them Again'' is the second album by the Northern Irish band, Them, whose lead singer and songwriter was Van Morrison. The album was released by Decca Records in the UK on 21 January 1966 but it failed to chart. In the U.S. it was released in April 1966 where it peaked at #138 on the ''Billboard'' charts. Songs Two of the original Van Morrison songs included on the album, "My Lonely Sad Eyes" and "Hey Girl", can be seen as precursors to the poetic musings of Morrison's later ''Astral Weeks'' album, released in 1968. "My Lonely Sad Eyes" begins with the words, "Fill me my cup, and I'll drink your sparkling wine/Pretend that everything is fine, 'til I see your sad eyes." The title implies that the sad eyes belong to the singer but the lyrics address the singer's love interest. The song "Hey Girl" has a pastoral feel to it, enhanced by the addition of flutes and in Brian Hinton's opinion is a "dry run for ' Cyprus Avenue'" from ''Astral Weeks''. Philip Coulter (born 19 February 1942) is an Irish musician, songwriter and record producer from Derry, Northern Ireland. He was awarded the Gold Badge from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors in October 2009.
