North And South (miniseries)
''North and South'' is the title of three American television miniseries broadcast on the ABC network in 1985, 1986, and 1994. Set before, during, and immediately after the American Civil War, they are based on the 1980s trilogy of novels ''North and South'' by John Jakes. The 1985 first installment, ''North and South'', remains the seventh-highest rated miniseries in TV history. ''North and South: Book II'' (1986) was met with similar success, while 1994's ''Heaven and Hell: North and South Book III'' was poorly received by both critics and audiences. The saga tells the story of the enduring friendship between Orry Main of South Carolina (Patrick Swayze) and George Hazard of Pennsylvania (James Read), who become best friends while attending the United States Military Academy at West Point but later find themselves and their families on opposite sides of the war. The slave-owning Mains are rural planters from outside Charleston, South Carolina, while the Hazards, who reside in a ...

Hollywood Wives (miniseries)
''Jackie Collins' Hollywood Wives'' is an American television miniseries based on the 1983 novel of the same name by Jackie Collins. Airing on ABC in February 1985, it follows several women connected to the entertainment industry in Hollywood and capitalized on the public's taste for opulent melodramas that dominated television ratings in the 1980s. The three-part, four-and-a-half-hour production was produced by Aaron Spelling, whose series ''Dynasty'' was number one in the ratings at the time. Like ''Dynasty'', costume design was by Nolan Miller. Collins herself was credited as "Creative Consultant" for the miniseries, though she later made it clear that she was not actually consulted at all during production and was less than enthusiastic about some of the casting choices. ''Hollywood Wives'' was nominated for an Emmy Award for " Outstanding Film Editing in a Limited Series or a Special" in 1985. Plot Part 1 Successful Hollywood starlet Gina Germaine (Suzanne Somers) has gro ...

Southfork Ranch
Southfork Ranch is a conference and event center in Parker, in the US state of Texas, north of Dallas. It includes Ewing Mansion, the setting for the television series ''Dallas''. History The house was built in 1970 by Joe Duncan and was known as Duncan Acres, named after his family. The property was originally in size. The "mansion" at Southfork Ranch is a house with a enclosed garage that was turned into a den/card room. The ranch appears in the television series ''Dallas''. Exterior shots were filmed on location from 1979 until 1989, though Lorimar Productions also made a studio mock-up of the ranch's exterior (complete with swimming pool) in California in 1979 for use when the weather made it impractical to film on location in Texas. From 1989 the series' production shifted entirely to the California studio set. The reunion movies '' J.R. Returns'' (1996) and '' War of the Ewings'' (1998) returned to the ranch, as did the non-fiction special '' The Return to Southfork'' ( ...

List Of Most-watched Television Episodes
This page lists the television broadcasts which had the most viewers within individual countries, as measured by ratings and research agencies in those countries. The research methodology and choice of statistics varies between sources, and is explained in individual sections. Many events are watched simultaneously around the world, and recorded programs exported to multiple countries, but it is difficult to collate reliable figures for global audiences. Those countries where reliable figures are available may use incompatible methodologies, such as the minimum age of counted viewers, and what proportion of the program must be watched when measuring the "reach" of a program, rather than its average or peak audience. Figures published by organisers and journalists are routinely exaggerated or misrepresented, claiming billions of viewers worldwide, where independent analysis suggests few if any broadcasts have reached 1 billion viewers. Although numbers are unreliable, it is gener ...
