Mary Ellen Otremba
Mary Ellen Dinkel Otremba (September 26, 1950 – July 16, 2014) was an American politician and a former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives who represented District 11B, which includes portions of Douglas and Todd counties in the west central part of the state. A Democrat, she was also a substitute teacher and farmer. On May 19, 2010, she announced that she would not seek an eighth term. Otremba was first elected in a November 4, 1997, special election held after the death of her husband, Representative Ken Otremba, that September. She chaired the House Agriculture, Rural Economies and Veterans Affairs Committee, and was a member of the Ways and Means Committee. She also served on the Agriculture, Rural Economies and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee for the Veterans Affairs Division, and on the Finance subcommittees for the Agriculture, Rural Economies and Veterans Affairs Finance Division and the Health Care and Human Services Finance Division. Ken Otremba
Ken Otremba (October 29, 1948 – September 4, 1997) was an American politician and a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives representing District 11B, which includes portions of Douglas County, Minnesota, Douglas and Todd County, Minnesota, Todd counties in the west central part of the state. A Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, Democrat, Otremba was elected to two terms in office, dying of liver cancer during the second. Otremba served as a fire control technician in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, and later served in government, serving as an officer for the township of Reynolds Township, Todd County, Minnesota, Reynolds, and as a County Commissioner, commissioner for Todd County, Minnesota, Todd County. Eagle Bend, Minnesota
Eagle Bend is a city in Todd County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 535 at the 2010 census. History Eagle Bend was first settled in the early 1880s. The first pioneers were Charles O'Dell, a merchant, and Marion Crider, a homesteader from eastern Kentucky. When O'Dell opened his general store, his first customer was Crider, who bought a pound of coffee. The townsite was purchased by a railroad executive, Benjamin F. Abbott, who wished to change the name of the town to Abbottsville; however, sensibility prevailed and the evocative name of Eagle Bend was retained. The post office was established in O'Dell's store in 1882, and the village was incorporated on January 21, 1890.
