North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party

The North Dakota House of Representatives is the lower house of the North Dakota Legislative Assembly and is larger than the North Dakota Senate. North Dakota is divided into between 40 and 54 legislative districts apportioned by population as determined by the decennial census. The 2000 redistricting plan provided for 47 districts. As each district elects two Representatives to the House, there are currently 94 representatives in the House. Representatives serve four-year terms. Elections are staggered such that half the districts have elections every two years. Originally, the North Dakota Constitution limited members of the North Dakota House of Representatives to two-year terms, with all representatives standing for reelection at the same time. The North Dakota State Auditor is a political office in North Dakota. The auditor's duty is to oversee the four divisions of the Office of the State Auditor: State Audit, which audits the state of North Dakota; Local Government Audit, which performs audits of counties, school districts, and other political subdivisions; Royalty Audit, which performs audits of federal royalty payments from oil, gas, and coal leases located within the state, and Division of North Dakota University System Performance Audit, which conducts university audits. Brent Edison
Brent Edison (born 1956, Milnor, North Dakota) is an attorney and Democratic-NPL politician from North Dakota. He has unsuccessfully run for both State Auditor in 2004 and for State Tax Commissioner in 2006. Edison's campaign for Tax Commissioner was tarnished when it was publicized that he was fired from a state agency, Workforce Safety and Insurance, after reportedly creating a hostile work environment. Nonetheless, there was never a formal reason for Edison's dismissal, leading many to believe it was politically motivated. Indeed, Edison proved not to be the problem at WSI and unrest worsened dramatically after Edison's firing. Edison is a native of Milnor.
