Mary Dallas
Mary Dallas (1952–2023) was Scottish-born Australian archaeologist, who specialised in the area of Aboriginal cultural heritage management. Dallas was prominent in the area cultural heritage assessment procedures including Review of Environmental Factors, for Local and Regional Environmental Plans and Local Environmental Studies, Aboriginal Heritage Impact Assessments and Conservation Management Plans. She also had considerable experience in legal matters related to assessment of the impact of development on heritage protection. She has completed important Aboriginal heritage assessments for the municipalities of Parramatta, and Blacktown and for the Royal National Park Sydney. She completed a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Archaeology and Fine Arts at the University of Sydney in 1973. Blacktown
Blacktown is a suburb in the City of Blacktown, in Greater Western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Blacktown is located west of the Sydney central business district. It is one of the most multicultural places within Greater Sydney. Royal National Park
The Royal National Park is a protected national park that is located in Sutherland Shire in the Australian state of New South Wales, just south of Sydney. The national park is about south of the Sydney central business district near the localities of , and . The Australasian Society for Historical Archaeology (ASHA) was founded as the Australian Society for Historical Archaeology in 1970 by Judy Birmingham (University of Sydney). Its aims are to promote the study of historical archaeology in Australia. Origins ASHA came out of the developing interest in archaeology in Australia in the 1970s, and in particular the increasing interest generated by uncovering of Colonial period archaeology in Port Arthur, Sydney Cove, The Rocks and other parts of New South Wales, as well as the first historical archaeology course at the University of Sydney, in 1974. Laila Haglund is an archaeologist who played a key role in establishing consulting archaeology in Australia, and in drafting Queensland's first legislation to protect Aboriginal cultural heritage. Early life and education Haglund was born in Sweden. She studied Latin, Greek and classical archaeology at the University of Lund. During her studies she visited Australia to study Cypriot pottery with Jim and Eve Stewart, where she also met with V. Gordon Childe. Dr Josephine McDonald is an Australian archaeologist and Director of the Centre for Rock Art Research + Management at the University of Western Australia. McDonald is primarily known for her influence in the field of rock art research and her collaborative research with Australian Aboriginal communities. Education McDonald received her undergraduate training at the University of Sydney and her PhD from the Australian National University. Valerie Attenbrow is principal research scientist in the Anthropology Research Section of the Australian Museum, a position she has held since 1989.
