Mary Ann Handley
Mary Ann Handley (May 13, 1936 – December 9, 2023) was an American politician. Handley, a Democratic Party (United States), Democrat, served as a member of the Connecticut State Senate from 1997 until her retirement in 2010. She was Chief Deputy Majority Leader, as well as a member of the Appropriations, Commerce, Higher Education and Employment Advancement, and Judiciary Committees. A resident of Manchester, Connecticut, Manchester, she represented Bolton, Connecticut, Bolton, Glastonbury, Connecticut, Glastonbury, Manchester, and Marlborough, Connecticut, Marlborough in the Connecticut Senate. Before being elected to the senate, Handley served as deputy mayor of Manchester (1991–1996) and as a member of the Manchester Board of Directors (1987–1989, 1991–1996). The Connecticut State Senate is the upper house of the Connecticut General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Connecticut. The state senate comprises 36 members, each representing a district with around 99,280 inhabitants. Senators are elected to two-year terms without term limits. The New York ''Daily News'', officially titled the ''Daily News'', is an American newspaper based in Jersey City, NJ. It was founded in 1919 by Joseph Medill Patterson as the ''Illustrated Daily News''. It was the first U.S. daily printed in tabloid format.
