Mary Agnes Hickson
Mary Agnes Hickson (7 April 1821 – 6 April 1899) was an United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Irish antiquarian and genealogist. Biography Mary Agnes Hickson was born in Tralee, Kerry on 7 April 1821 to John James Hickson and Sarah Day. She was able to trace her family, through her mother to Anne Blennerhassett of 1694 and Denis McGillicuddy of ''McGillycuddy of the Reeks''. Hickson was educated locally and at a boarding school and was a good student. The family suffered a financial set back during the Irish Famine when their tenants were unable to pay the rents leaving the family unable to pay their own rents and they had to sell land. Hickson lived in rooms with her mother until her death and then with relatives in Ireland and Great Britain until eventually returning to live in County Kerry. Tralee ( ; ga, Trá Lí, ; formerly , meaning 'strand of the Lee River') is the county town of County Kerry in the south-west of Ireland. James Anthony Froude
James Anthony Froude ( ; 23 April 1818 – 20 October 1894) was an English historian, novelist, biographer, and editor of ''Fraser's Magazine''. From his upbringing amidst the Anglo-Catholic Oxford Movement, Froude intended to become a clergyman, but doubts about the doctrines of the Anglican church, published in his scandalous 1849 novel '' The Nemesis of Faith'', drove him to abandon his religious career. Froude turned to writing history, becoming one of the best-known historians of his time for his ''History of England from the Fall of Wolsey to the Defeat of the Spanish Armada''. Inspired by Thomas Carlyle, Froude's historical writings were often fiercely polemical, earning him a number of outspoken opponents. Cloghane
An Clochán (anglicized as Cloghane; from ''clochán'', a local type of dry-stone hut) is a village and townland on the Dingle Peninsula of County Kerry, Ireland, at the foot of Mount Brandon. In 1974 the village was added to the Corca Dhuibhne Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking region). It has a population of 297 (2011 Census). Cloghane and Brandon (''An Clochán agus Cé Bhréanainn'') are jointly twinned with the village of Plozévet in Brittany (France). The village is set at the foot of Mount Brandon, on the north of the Dingle Peninsula and overlooking Brandon Bay. The village is on the Wild Atlantic Way tourism trail. Irish Rebellion Of 1641
The Irish Rebellion of 1641 ( ga, Éirí Amach 1641) was an uprising by Irish Catholics in the Kingdom of Ireland, who wanted an end to anti-Catholic discrimination, greater Irish self-governance, and to partially or fully reverse the plantations of Ireland. They also wanted to prevent a possible invasion or takeover by anti-Catholic English Parliamentarians and Scottish Covenanters, who were defying the king, Charles I. It began as an attempted ''coup d'état'' by Catholic gentry and military officers, who tried to seize control of the English administration in Ireland. However, it developed into a widespread rebellion and ethnic conflict with English and Scottish Protestant settlers, leading to Scottish military intervention.
