Marvell, Arkansas
Marvell is a city in Phillips County, Arkansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 1,186. History Marvell was founded when Marvell M. Carruth and his wife, Rachel, sold 50 lots of land given to him by his father, Ladson Carruth, to the Arkansas Central Railroad. A train depot was soon established. Marvell became an un-incorporated town on May 28, 1873, with R.M. Jackson as its first mayor. Three years later, on October 3, 1876, Marvell became an incorporated town. In 1877, the Union Trust foreclosed on the Arkansas Central Railroad and sold all of its assets at public auction. On December 6, 1877, the Arkansas Midland Railway was formed. Under new ownership, the railroad became profitable, not only as a freight line, but also by providing daily passenger service from Clarendon to Brinkley and on to Helena, making stops in Marvell along the way. Andrew Marvell (; 31 March 1621 – 16 August 1678) was an English metaphysical poet, satirist and politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1659 and 1678. During the Commonwealth period he was a colleague and friend of John Milton. Marvell Scott
Marvell Scott (born February 28, 1973) is a physician and former journalist. He is a graduate of Wheaton Central High School in Wheaton, Illinois, a graduate of the University of Delaware and a graduate of Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. Scott was recruited from high school, and played as a football running back at the University of Illinois, in the Big Ten conference. He played two seasons as a professional indoor football player in addition to playing semi-pro baseball as a pitcher. He also won a state championship in bodybuilding as a teen. In 2002, Scott joined WABC-TV as its weekend sports reporter. Scott is a New York state-licensed, nationally board-certified medical doctor, with an emphasis on preventive care and sports medicine. Marvell Tell III (born August 2, 1996) is an American professional football cornerback. He played college football at USC, and played high school football at Crespi Carmelite High School. Early life Playing at Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, California, Tell played free safety and had ten scholarship offers after his sophomore year, which saw him intercept a pass and make over 50 tackles. He had to sit out part of his junior season due to a broken collarbone. His commitment to USC came at the Army All-American Bowl after his senior year at Crespi. Tell chose USC over Oregon, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt, all of whom he visited. Ronald Marvell Thomas (August 22, 1941 – January 23, 2017) was an American keyboardist, record producer and arranger known for his work in Memphis Soul. Marvell Wynne (born December 17, 1959) is an American former professional baseball player. He played eight seasons in Major League Baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates (1983–85), San Diego Padres (1986–89), and Chicago Cubs (1989–90), primarily as a center fielder. He also played one season in Japan, in 1991. Wynne batted and threw left-handed. He is the father of professional soccer player Marvell Wynne.
