Marvel Swimsuit Special
The ''Marvel Swimsuit Special'' (formerly ''Marvel Illustrated: The Swimsuit Issue'') was an annual magazine-styled comic book published by Marvel Comics from 1991 to 1995. A parody of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, ''Sports Illustrated'' Swimsuit Issue, the series featured pin-ups of List of Marvel Comics characters, Marvel Comics characters in swimwear. The fan service-driven nature of the ''Marvel Swimsuit Special'', and its overt sexual objectification of Marvel characters, has been the subject of both criticism and praise. Attempts have been made to revive the series, though none have been successful; most recently, a One-shot (comics), one-shot to be titled ''Marvel Summer Special'' was announced for release in 2019, but was subsequently cancelled. Tyrone Templeton is a Canadian comic book artist and writer who has drawn a number of mainstream titles, TV-associated titles, and his own series. Career Templeton first received attention for ''Stig's Inferno'' (Vortex Comics), now a cult favourite, which detailed the journey of its lead character into Hell in a parody of Dante's ''The Divine Comedy''. Templeton recalled that after reading the three books of The Divine Comedy, "I fell in love with them as stories. It took a bit to get past the language translations, but for a year or so, I was reading different versions, off and on, as my reading on subways and buses, getting to and from school." Jan Duursema (born October 27, 1954) is an American comics artist known for her work on the ''Star Wars'' comics franchise. She is the creator of Denin and Vila from Naldar, the Twi'lek Jedi Aayla Secura and the Kiffar Jedi Quinlan Vos.
