Marva Mollet
Marva Mollet, known professionally as Marva (born 23 March 1943, in Vlissegem), is a Belgian singer who was very popular between 1963 and 1980 in Flanders. Her best-known songs are "Eiland in groen en blauw" ("Island Green and Blue"), "Oempalapapero" and "Rode rozen in de sneeuw" ("Red Roses in the Snow"). Life She was born Marva Mollet and grew up in Blankenberge. At age 20 she recorded her debut single, "Geef me nog een kans" ("Give me another chance") in 1963. In 1964 she married her manager and brought a son into the world. Between 1963 and 1980 she scored hits in Flanders with "Eiland in groen en blauw" (1967), "Fiesta" (1969), "Niemand wil je als je ongelukkig bent" ("Nobody Wants You if You Are Unhappy") (1974), "Rode rozen in de sneeuw" ("Red Roses in the Snow") (1975) and "Oempalapapero" (1975). Vlissegem
De Haan (; french: Le Coq, ; vls, D'n Oane; literally ''The Rooster'') is a place and a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the villages of De Haan proper, Wenduine, Klemskerke, Vlissegem and Harendijk. On January 1, 2020 De Haan had a total population of 12,700. The total area is 46.14 km² (26.2 Miles) which gives a population density of 275.26 inhabitants per km². The coastal village of De Haan proper has maintained a low skyline so its many buildings in Belle Époque style are still prominently visible. The town has an 18-hole golf course situated in its dunes, founded by King Leopold II in 1903. Today, it is the only links course in the country. Its most famous resident was Albert Einstein, who lived in the villa "Savoyarde" for six months in 1933 after leaving Nazi Germany. ''Everybody's Famous!'' ( nl-BE, Iedereen beroemd!) is a 2000 Belgian satirical comedy film directed by Dominique Deruddere about a young teenage girl who is pushed by her poor parents to become a musical star. It was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 73rd Academy Awards. Plot Seventeen-year-old Marva Vereecken is a regular at singing contests which she never wins. When her father, Jean, gets laid off, he decides to kidnap the number one singer in the country, Debbie. The kidnapping greatly increases sales of Debbie's latest single, much to the pleasant surprise of Michael, Debbie's manager. Michael in turn proposes a secret deal to make Marva a star if Jean agrees to keep Debbie out of the way for as long as Michael wants. The Dutch Top 40 ( nl, Nederlandse Top 40) is a weekly music chart compiled by ''Stichting Nederlandse Top 40''. It started as a radio program titled "Veronica Top 40", on the offshore station Radio Veronica in 1965. It remained "The Veronica Top 40" until 1974, when the station was forced to stop broadcasting. Joost den Draaijer initiated the Top 40 in the Netherlands. The show currently airs on Fridays from 2 to 6 PM on Qmusic. Ultratop is an organization which generates and publishes the official record charts in Belgium. Ultratop is a non-profit organization, created on the initiative of the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Belgian member organization of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. Two parallel sets of charts are concurrently produced and published, one on behalf of Belgium's mainly Dutch-speaking Flanders region, and the other catering to the nation's mainly French-speaking region of Wallonia. ''De Grootste Belg'' (The Greatest Belgian) was a 2005 vote conducted by Belgian public TV broadcaster Canvas, public radio broadcaster Radio 1, and newspaper ''De Standaard'', to determine who is the Greatest Belgian of all time. It could be considered as a Flemish list, considering that French-speaking community broadcast RTBF also held a vote, Le plus grand Belge. Nominees needed to have lived between 50 BC and now, between the borders of present-day Belgium. This is because Belgium only gained its independence in 1830, while numerous historical individuals from, for example, the Spanish Netherlands, are considered to be "Belgians".
