Marv Matuszak
Marvin H. Matuszak (September 12, 1931 – February 28, 2004) was an American football linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) and in the American Football League (AFL). He went to two NFL Pro Bowls and was once an AFL All-Star during his 12-year pro football career. After retiring, he was an assistant coach in the pros for 16 seasons for five different teams. The South Bend native was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame in 1987. He is often erroneously called the father of former NFL defensive lineman John Matuszak John Daniel Matuszak (October 25, 1950 – June 17, 1989) was an American football defensive end in the National Football League who later became an actor. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). John Matuszak
John Daniel Matuszak (October 25, 1950 – June 17, 1989) was an American football defensive end in the National Football League who later became an actor. Matuszak was the first overall pick in the 1973 NFL Draft and played most of his career with the Oakland Raiders until he retired after winning his second Super Bowl in 1981. He participated in the 1978 World's Strongest Man competition, where he placed ninth. As an actor, Matuszak played in both films and television, appearing first as O.W. Shaddock in 1979 in ''North Dallas Forty'' followed by Tonda in the 1981 film ''Caveman'' and the deformed Sloth in the 1985 movie ''The Goonies''. The Indiana Football Hall of Fame is a sports museum and hall of fame in Richmond, Indiana. It honors persons associated with high school, college and professional American football in Indiana.
