Marubi National Museum Of Photography
Marubi National Museum of Photography ( sq, Muzeu Kombëtar i Fotografisë Marubi), also known as Marubi Museum, is a museum in Shkodër, Albania. At the center of the museum project is the legacy of the 'Photo-Studio Marubbi', founded in 1856 by Pietro Marubbi, an Italian painter and photographer who came and settled in Shkodër at the time. The activity of the studio over the years, was directed and enriched by three generations of photographers, until the early 1950s, time when Geg Marubi was forced to give oneself up to the communist collective anonymity, by joining other photographers in the photography unit of the former Repair-Services Cooperative. In 1970 was founded the Marubi Photo-Studio with around 500,000 negatives in various techniques and formats. Shkodër
Shkodër ( , ; sq-definite, Shkodra) is the fifth-most-populous city of the Republic of Albania and the seat of Shkodër County and Shkodër Municipality. The city sprawls across the Plain of Mbishkodra between the southern part of Lake Shkodër and the foothills of the Albanian Alps on the banks of Buna, Drin and Kir. Kel Marubi
Kel Kodheli (better known as Kel Marubi) (1870–13 March 1940) was an Albanian photographer. He was the father of Geg Marubi. Life Kel Kodheli began his study of photography at the age of 15. During the 1920s, he studied in Lyon at the first school of photography and cinema founded by the Lumière brothers, and worked as a professional photographer in Shkodra from the late 1920s to 1952. He pioneered working with celluloid instead of glass plate. Kel Kodheli was an assistant to Italian photographer Pietro Marubi. After Pietro's death, Kodheli changed his name to Kel Marubi and became the owner of Marubi's photography studio. He photographed the Albanian political leaders of the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century, as well as common people and landscapes. The Lumiere Brothers Center For Photography
The Lumiere Brothers Center for Photography is a private exhibition organization located in the former chocolate factory and acting art cluster Red October in Moscow. Since its foundation in 2010, the center aims to explore and promote Russian and foreign photography, support emerging Russian artists and explore beyond the medium. A private collection of Natalia and Eduard Litvinsky laid the foundation for the center's collection. Mati Kodheli
Mati Kodheli (1862–1881) was an ethnically Albanian photographer in the Ottoman Empire who served as an apprentice to master photographer Pietro Marubi. He was the older brother of Kel Kodheli. Life Mati Kodheli was born in Shkodër to a lower-middle-class family. His father Rrok Kodheli, worked as a gardener at the estate of Italian photographer Pietro Marubi from Piacenza, who had recently settled in Albania after being forced to leave his native country for being accused of involvement in the murder of the local town mayor. Mati was sent to study photography at the Sebastianutti & Benque studio in Trieste, Italy. He died prematurely at the young age of nineteen, from tuberculosis.
