Martinez is an unincorporated community in eastern Bexar County, Texas, United States. In 1990, its population was reported to be 75 residents. It is located within the Greater San Antonio metropolitan area. History Martinez was a station on the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway in 1877. Its population was 50 in 1910, with a store owned and operated by W.C. Schlather. It remained the same in 1940, with the opening of three more businesses. It continued to grow slowly, with the population reaching 75 in 1990. It was listed on county maps in 2000, but with no further population records. Geography Martinez lies near Converse at the intersection of Farm to Market Roads 1346 and 1516, ten miles east of Downtown San Antonio. Two rivers that flow through the community are Martinez Creek and Calaveras Creek. Converse, Texas
Converse is a city in Bexar County, Texas, United States, northeast of downtown San Antonio. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 27,466. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2017, Converse proposed the annexation of 12 mi2 of territory near Randolph Air Force Base in northeastern Bexar County. Several large commercial areas are included in the annexation. The additional land would be taken in a series of phased expansions until 2033. Once completed, the area of Converse would triple in size. Municipal services would become available to an often neglected part of the county. Buffalo Bayou, Brazos And Colorado Railway
The Buffalo Bayou, Brazos, and Colorado Railway (B.B.B.C. or B.B.B. & C.), also called the Harrisburg Road or Harrisburg Railroad, was the first operating railroad in Texas. It completed its first segment of track between Harrisburg, Texas (now a neighborhood of Houston) and Stafford's Point, Texas in 1853. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. Area codes 210 and 726 are area codes for telephone numbers in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) in and near San Antonio, Texas. Area code 210 was created in an area code split from number plan area 512 in 1992. After only a few years, the threat of number exhaustion forced a reduction of the size of the numbering plan area to the center of the San Antonio metropolitan area in a three-way split in 1997. Area code 726 was assigned to the same numbering plan area in an overlay plan activated in 2017 to alleviate the threat of exhaustion that was expected by 2018.
