The Martin Werhand Verlag is a German publishing house with a focus on contemporary literature and poetry. More than 25% of the 150 published authors have an immigrant background with parents who were born outside of Germany and have their roots in countries like the Netherlands, Greece, Spain, Croatia, Austria, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Latvia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Russia or Uganda. Thus is also a mirror image of the German Society. The Martin Werhand publishing house stands for tolerance, integration and openness. It is located in Rhineland-Palatinate. Foundation The Martin Werhand publishing house was founded in April 1997 by the German philologist, author and editor Martin Werhand. Martin Werhand (born May 13, 1968, in Neuwied, Rhineland-Palatinate) is a German publisher, editor and writer. 1997 he founded the publishing house Martin Werhand Verlag in Melsbach with focus on Fiction. Life and work Martin Peter Werhand was born in 1968 as son of artisan blacksmith Klaus Rudolf Werhand. After attaining the in 1988 at Werner-Heisenberg- Gymnasium in Neuwied, Werhand studied in Cologne German language and literature studies between 1992 und 1997 (amongst other under Günter Blamberger, English language and literature studies (under Ansgar Nünning) and theatre, film and media (under Renate Möhrmann at the University of Cologne. Mario Ramos (born 30 June 1973 in Salamanca) is a Spanish actor, musician and poet. Life and career Mario Ramos was born in 1973 in Salamanca in Spain and grew up in Germany. He took acting lessons at the theater school Bongôrt van Roy in Bergisch Gladbach. During his training, he played at the Chamber Stage in Bergisch Gladbach in plays like ''Kiss Me, Kate'', ''Weisman and Rotgesicht'' or ''Stella''. Renate Freund
Renate Freund (born 3 October 1939, in Neuwied) is a German author of short stories and poetry. Life and work Renate Freund was born in 1939 in Neuwied as the second of five children. Being a qualified shorthand clerk, she started her career as a clerical assistant in the purchasing department of a medium-sized enterprise. After that she worked in the technical department of the hospital Marien-Klinikum in Rhineland-Palatinate until she retired. Based on her interest in literature she later developed a talent for literary writing, especially short stories and poetry. Her first book of twelve short detective stories titled ''Der letzte Tanz'' (The Last Dance) was published in August 2016 by Martin Werhand Verlag. Meinolf Finke (born 14 August 1963 in Arnsberg) is a German writer and poet. Life and career Meinolf Finke was born 1963 in Arnsberg (Westphalia). After obtaining the Abitur at ''Gymnasium Laurentianum Arnsberg'', military service and a training as banker he started his studies of business economics at University of Bamberg in 1987, which he completed with the degree of a graduate in business administration. Georgia Doll (born July 2, 1980 in Vienna) is an Austrian-born German theatre director, playwright and poet. Life and career Georgia Doll was born in 1980 in Vienna. At the age of eight years her parents left Austria and moved to Hamburg. Christian Jahl (born 8 December 1972 in Düsseldorf) is a German musician, writer, and songwriter. The Westphälische Literaturbüro (Westphalian office for literature) in Unna operates the biggest database for literary production in North Rhine-Westphalia, continuously updated since 2001. The Förderpreis für Literatur der Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf is a German literary award donated by the City of Düsseldorf in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Prize for Literature in support of the City of Düsseldorf has been awarded since 1972 by the city council based on the decision of the prize jury. Prize money The Prize is endowed with 4,000 euros. Award criteria The ''Förderpreis für Literatur der Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf'' is awarded once a year to artists and groups, especially in the areas of poetry, writing, review and translation. The prize is awarded either for a single artistic achievement or for the overall performance to date of a young artist. Angela Litschev (also known as Angela Litschewa, Bulgarian Ангела Личева; born 17 July 1978) is a Bulgarian-born German writer and poet. Life and career Angela Litschev was born 1978 in Sofia as the only daughter of Alexander Litschev, a historian and philosophy lecturer and his wife Anna, a sociologist.
