Martin Ludlow
Martin Ludlow (born 1964) is the president and chief executive officer of Bridge Street Inc. and a former member of the Los Angeles City Council for the 10th district. Ludlow served on the Los Angeles City Council, representing the 10th district from July 1, 2003, through June 30, 2005, when he resigned and was elected head of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor (County Fed). In 2006, Ludlow resigned as head of the County Fed and pleaded guilty in state and federal courts to charges that he had used union workers and union money to help his 2003 city council campaign. Biography Ludlow was born in 1964 to a black father who served in the military and a white mother. He was placed in a foster home and named Marty. Tom Bradley (American Politician)
Thomas Bradley (December 29, 1917September 29, 1998) was an American politician and police officer who served as the 38th Mayor of Los Angeles from 1973 to 1993. He was the first black mayor of Los Angeles, and his 20 years in office mark the longest tenure by any mayor in the city's history. His election as mayor in 1973 made him the second black mayor of a major U.S. city. Bradley retired in 1993, after his approval ratings began dropping subsequent to the 1992 Los Angeles Riots. Miguel Contreras
Miguel Contreras (September 17, 1952 – May 6, 2005) was an American labor union leader. He "was known as a king-maker for both local and state politicians." Contreras was born in Dinuba, a city in California's agricultural Central Valley, to farmworker parents who had immigrated from Mexico during the 1920s under the Bracero Program. After meeting Cesar Chávez at a rally for Robert F. Kennedy in the late 1960s, he became an activist for the United Farm Workers. He promoted the Delano Grape Boycott in Toronto, and organized lettuce workers in Salinas. He later led San Francisco hotel workers on a month-long strike. He was recruited by the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees Union, who made him a national organizer in Los Angeles.
