Martin Jones (ice Hockey)
Martin Jones (born January 10, 1990) is a Canadian ice hockey goaltender who currently plays for the Seattle Kraken of the National Hockey League (NHL). He previously played for the Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks and Philadelphia Flyers. A standout goaltender in junior with the Calgary Hitmen, Jones was named the Western Hockey League's goaltender of the year in 2009–10 and won a silver medal with Team Canada at the 2010 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. Jones started his professional career in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Manchester Monarchs and made his NHL debut in 2013, where he spent two seasons with the Kings as backup to Jonathan Quick. In 2014, Jones won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Kings. He was chosen to play in the NHL All-Star Game in 2017. Personal life Jones was born in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Martin Jones (born 4 February 1940 in Witney, England) is an English concert pianist. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London under Guido Agosti, Guy Jonson, and Gordon Green. He has been highly regarded since debuting in the international arena when he won the Dame Myra Hess Award in 1968. Career His London debut was at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in 1968. His New York debut was at Carnegie Hall, also in 1968. Jones has performed with various orchestras throughout the world, including the London Festival Orchestra, the Halle Orchestra, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, and the BBC Welsh Orchestra. Besides many standard concertos, he has played the Ferruccio Busoni concerto and the Samuel Barber concerto, as well as concertos by William Mathias, John McCabe, Constant Lambert, and Xaver Scharwenka. Sir Edward Martin Furnival Jones CBE (7 May 1912 – 1 March 1997) was Director General of MI5, the United Kingdom's internal security service, from 1965 until 1972. Career Born in High Barnet and educated at Highgate School, Furnival Jones was a Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge graduate, having read modern and mediaeval languages, and law. He was admitted as a solicitor in England in 1937, joining the leading City of London law firm Slaughter and May. Ruth Martin-Jones
Ruth Martin-Jones (also known as Ruth Swinhoe and Ruth Howell, born 28 January 1947) is a former long jumper and heptathlete. Early life She is from Oswestry and attended the University of Birmingham, taking a French PhD. By 1972 she was teaching in Beaconsfield. Career She competed for Great Britain at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, finishing 28th in the long jump event. She was the first Welsh women to compete at the Olympic Games. At the 1974 British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, she won a bronze medal competing for Wales. Her jump was equal to silver medalist Brenda Eisler, but Eisler had a better second jump. Marty Jones is an English retired professional wrestler best known for his work in Joint Promotions and All Star Wrestling throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
