Zvolen
Zvolen (; hu, Zólyom; german: Altsohl) is a town in central Slovakia, situated on the confluence of Hron and Slatina rivers, close to Banská Bystrica. It is surrounded by Poľana mountain from the East, by Kremnické vrchy from the West and by Javorie and Štiavnické vrchy from the South. Zvolen is a seat of a county (Zvolen District). The 2018 Okolo Slovenska () was a five-stage men's professional road cycling race. The race is the 62nd edition of the Okolo Slovenska. It was rated as a 2.1 event as part of the 2018 UCI Europe Tour. The race started in Poprad on 12 September and finish on 16 September in Galanta. The Frenchmen rider Julian Alaphilippe of won the general classification, by taking first place at the summit finish in Štrbské Pleso. He won the race by sixteen seconds overall, from 's Jan Tratnik, Benedetti completed the podium. The Tour of Bulgaria is an annual international professional bicycle race held in Bulgaria that was first staged on 21 August 1924. It is part of UCI Europe Tour and is category 2.2. The race covers about 1,500 kilometres and lasts two weeks. As of 2017, 66 editions were held. The longest length of the race was in 1949 – 1905 km. The course changes every year, but the race has always started in Sofia. In the race, cyclists from more than 40 countries have been competing. During the Cold War, the Tour of Bulgaria was one of the most prestigious cycling races in Europe, drawing skilled cyclists from the countries that traditionally produce strong racers, such as Italy, France and Netherlands.
