Martin David Gray (born 17 August 1971) is an English professional football manager and former player who played as a midfielder. He played in the Football League for Sunderland, Aldershot, Fulham, Oxford United and Darlington, and managed in the Football League with Darlington and Oldham Athletic. Playing career Born in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, Gray's main position was in midfield, but he played in all outfield positions during his career. He signed as a trainee to Sunderland in 1990 and stayed with them until 1996 when he made a £100,000 transfer to Oxford United. Darlington agreed to end his contract so that he could retire from his playing career, in order to focus on coaching with the club. Martin Clifford Gray (born 19 January 1944) was Archdeacon of Lynn from 1999 to 2009. Gray was educated at West Ham College of Technology and Westcott House, Cambridge. After an earlier career as a process engineer he was ordained deacon in 1980, and priest in 1981. Martin Gray (born Mieczysław Grajewski; 27 April 1922 – 24 April 2016) was a Holocaust survivor who emigrated to the West, and published books in French about his experiences during World War II, in which his family was killed in Poland. Life Born in Warsaw, Second Polish Republic, the son of Henry/Henoch and Ida eld Grajewski (Gray) was 17 years old when Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union invaded Poland; they resided at 23 Mila Street Warsaw. His mother and brothers Isaac and Yacob died in Treblinka extermination camp; his father was killed in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising of 1943. He wrote later that he escaped from the Treblinka extermination camp during the most deadly phase of the Holocaust. He joined the Red Army during the Soviet counter-offensive and became an officer of the NKVD secret police in August 1944.
