Martin Gallegos
Martin Gallegos (born November 3, 1956) D.C. is a former California State Assembly man who served in the 57th district from 1994 until 2000. A Democrat from Baldwin Park, he was the first chiropractor to serve in the Assembly. Gallegos attended East Los Angeles College, Occidental College, and Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. Gloria Romero (legislator)
Gloria J. Romero (born July 10, 1955) is a former California State Senator and the Democratic majority leader of the California State Senate from 2005 until 2008. She was the first woman to ever hold that leadership position. Early life and career Romero grew up in Barstow, one of six children. Her father worked in the railroad yards and her mother, who left school after sixth grade, stayed home and raised the kids. Romero received her associate's degree from Barstow Community College before going on to earn a B.A. and an M.A. from California State University, Long Beach and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of California, Riverside. She taught as a professor at state universities and served as a trustee and vice president of the board of trustees of Los Angeles Community College District. Baldwin Park is a city located in the central San Gabriel Valley region of Los Angeles County, California, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 72,176, down from 75,390 at the 2010 census. History Baldwin Park began as part of cattle grazing land belonging to the San Gabriel Mission. It eventually became part of the Rancho Azusa de Dalton and the Rancho La Puente properties. The community became known as Vineland in 1860. By 1906 it changed to Baldwin Park.
