Martin Clancy
Martin Clancy is an Irish musician and songwriter behind several bands including The Witness Protection Programme. In the early 1980s Clancy formed Irish band In Tua Nua alongside Leslie Dowdall, Jack Dublin, Vinny Kilduff, Ivan O'Shea, Paul Byrne and Steve Wickham. After signing to U2's record label, Mother, in 1984 and producing several hits including a cover of Jefferson Airplane's " Somebody to Love", In Tua Nua officially disbanded in 1990. Clancy embarked on a series of musical projects including acting as manager and producer of Jack Lukeman. The Witness Protection Programme
The Witness Protection Programme is an American retro disco indie band featuring Martin Clancy. The band has enjoyed considerable chart success reaching the Top 40 in the Billboard Dance Charts with its hit "Flatfoot" and the Top 20 hit "You Can't Stop the Rain". The band has attracted significant music industry interest with high-profile DJs offering to remix the Witness Protection Programme's songs. Jefferson Airplane was an American rock band based in San Francisco, California, that became one of the pioneering bands of psychedelic rock. Formed in 1965, the group defined the San Francisco Sound and was the first from the Bay Area to achieve international commercial success. "Somebody to Love" (originally titled "Someone to Love") is a rock song that was written by Darby Slick. It was originally recorded by The Great Society, and later by Jefferson Airplane. ''Rolling Stone'' magazine ranked Jefferson Airplane's version No. 274 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Background Written by The Great Society guitarist Darby Slick after realizing his girlfriend had left him, and first performed by that band, which included his then-sister-in-law Grace Slick on vocals, the song made little impact outside of the club circuit in the Bay Area. Jack Lukeman
Jack Lukeman (born Seán Loughman 11 February 1973), usually simply known as Jack L, is an Irish songwriter, musician, record producer, vocal artist and broadcaster. History A native of Athy Co. Kildare Ireland, Jack Lukeman attended a youth club in Athy known as Aontas Ogra at the age of 12 years old, where he was involved in artistic ventures as well as playing music there. He left school at 15. After spending a short period in the family business he began playing music full-time at 18 cutting his teeth on the Bohemian busking scene around Europe in the early 90s.
