Martin Carlstein
Martin Carlstein (20 May 1942 – 17 July 2018) was a tennis player from Sweden. Career Carlstein played in one match for Sweden in the Davis Cup competition, being the 1969 Europe Zone first-round tie against Finland. He partnered with Ove Bengtson in the doubles, to beat George Berner and Heikki Hedman in straight sets. He also captained the Swedish Davis Cup team in 1977 and 1978. Carlstein participated in the singles and doubles competition at the 1969 US Open. In the singles he lost in the first round to Robert McKinley and in the doubles, with partner Ove Bengtson, lost in the second round. Ove Bengtson
Ove Nils Bengtson (born 5 April 1945) is a former professional tennis player from Sweden. He enjoyed most of his tennis success while playing doubles. During his career, he won five doubles titles. Bengtson was a member of the Swedish Davis Cup team from 1967 to 1979, posting a 7–14 record in singles and a 15–14 record in doubles. Robert McKinley (tennis)
Robert McKinley (born August 5, 1950) is a former professional tennis player for the ATP Tour. He is currently the assistant men's tennis coach at Texas A&M University. As a professional player, McKinley reached as high as No. 50 in the ATP singles rankings, and reached the semi-finals of the 1972 U.S. Open doubles draw with partner Dick Stockton. McKinley was a 4-time all-American at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and captained Trinity's 1972 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship. He also led Trinity to the NCAA finals as a coach in 1977 and 1979, and was named the NCAA coach of the year after the 1977 season. As a junior player, he was ranked the No. 1 junior tennis player in the United States. The 1969 US Open (formerly known as U.S. National Championships) was a tennis tournament that took place on the outdoor grass courts at the West Side Tennis Club, Forest Hills in New York City, USA. The tournament ran from 28 August until 9 September. It was the 89th staging of the tournament, and the fourth Grand Slam tennis event of 1969. It was the last year at the US Open in which sets were decided by a two-game advantage before the introduction of the tiebreak in 1970. This championship was the first time in grand slam history that two multiple slam sets were accomplished in two different disciplines; Rod Laver won his first multiple slam set in Men's singles, and his fellow countryman Ken Rosewall won it for the first time in the Men's doubles. Heikki Hedman
Heikki Hedman (25 April 1940 – 3 April 2022) was a Finnish tennis player. Tennis career Hedman represented Finland in the Davis Cup competition during the period 1958 to 1969. He made his debut for the Finland team during the 1958 Europe Zone second round tie against Mexico, losing both his singles matches. His next appearance was six years later in the 1964 Europe Zone first round tie against Denmark. Hedman played six Davis Cup singles and three doubles rubbers, with only one victory in a doubles match. In 1969 Hedman founded TennisHedman, a tennis school in Helsinki. George Berner
George Luis Sören Berner (born 4 April 1944) is a former tennis player from Finland. Tennis career Berner attended college in the United States at Davidson College in North Carolina during 1967 and 1968. Berner was a regular member of the Finland Davis Cup team for the period 1969 to 1981. He made his debut in the 1969 Europe Zone A first round tie against Sweden. His last appearance was as a doubles player in the 1981 Europe Zone B semi-final against the Netherlands. Berner played in twenty Davis Cup singles rubbers, ten of which he won, and he also played in ten doubles rubbers, with two wins. Berner participated in the Wimbledon qualifying draw on two occasions, in 1969 and 1972, with a best effort in reaching the second round of qualifying in 1972. Tällberg () is a small village located in Leksand Municipality, Dalarna County in Sweden.
