''Hollyoaks'' is a long-running Channel 4 soap opera in the United Kingdom. This is a list of characters who first appeared on the programme during 2010, listed in order of their first appearance. In January 2010, it was announced that Paul Marquess would be taking over the role of series producer from Lucy Allan (producer), Lucy Allan, who had been with the show for one year. Marquess fully took control on 17 January 2010, onwards. March saw the introduction of Jem Costello, a new Romantic interest, love interest for Gilly Roach. Hollyoaks
''Hollyoaks'' is a British soap opera which began airing on Channel 4 on 23 October 1995. It was created by Phil Redmond, who had previously conceived the soap opera ''Brookside (TV series), Brookside''. Since 2005, episodes have been aired on sister channel E4 (TV channel), E4 a day prior to their broadcast on Channel 4. At its inception, the soap was targeted towards an adolescent and young adult audience but has since broadened its appeal to all age groups. Carl Costello
Carl Costello is a fictional character from the Channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks'', played by Paul Opacic. The character was introduced by executive producer Paul Marquess and he debuted on screen during the episode broadcast on 19 July 2010. Carl arrived in the village as the new owner of The Dog in the Pond and the father of established character Jem Costello (Helen Russell-Clark). Diane O'Connor
Diane Hutchinson (also O'Connor) is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks'', played by Alex Fletcher. In 2010, ''Hollyoaks'' series producer, Paul Marquess, embarked on the show's rejuvenation and axed a number of cast members. To compensate for the departures, the character of Diane and her family were created and introduced. Fletcher's casting was announced in June 2010 and she began filming her scenes in the same month. Finn O'Connor (Hollyoaks)
Finn O'Connor is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks''. Upon his introduction as part of the O'Connor family, the character was portrayed by Connor Wilkinson. The family were introduced during a "shake-up" of the show by new series producer Paul Marquess. Writers then placed Finn in an issue-led story exploring underage sex and teenage pregnancy with Amber Sharpe (Lydia Lloyd-Henry). The character was written out of the series in 2011. The character's reintroduction was announced in March 2013, with the role recast to actor Keith Rice. Sinead O'Connor (Hollyoaks)
Sinead O'Connor (also Shelby and Roscoe) is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera, ''Hollyoaks'', played by Stephanie Davis. The character first appeared on-screen during the episode broadcast 1 September 2010. Sinead is a member of the O'Connor family, who were introduced as part of a cast turnover. Producers devised a "Romeo and Juliet" pairing for Sinead and Bart McQueen (Jonny Clarke). Davis was fired from the show in July 2015 after poor behaviour on-set and Sinead departed during the episode broadcast on 18 September 2015. Cheryl Brady is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks'', played by Bronagh Waugh. The character first appeared on-screen on 25 November 2008, during the first series of the ''Hollyoaks'' spin-off ''Hollyoaks Later'', as the former love interest of Malachy Fisher. Brendan Brady is a Character (arts), fictional character from the Television in the United Kingdom, British Channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks'', played by Emmett J. Scanlan. The character was introduced on 5 August 2010 by series producer Paul Marquess during part of the show's overhaul, and became one of ''Hollyoaks'' most popular characters. Bart McQueen is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks'', played by Jonny Clarke. He first appeared onscreen at his stepmother's funeral in August 2010, introduced by producer Paul Marquess as a member of the McQueen family. Jason Costello (previously Jasmine Costello) is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks'', played by Victoria Atkin. Anne "Mitzeee" Minniver is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks'', played by Rachel Shenton. The character debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 23 July 2010. Mitzeee was created by series producer Paul Marquess for a different television series which was never commissioned and instead introduced his ideas onto Mitzeee. She is also one of the first characters created in Marquess's 2010 reinvention of ''Hollyoaks''.
