Martim Aguiar
Martim Aguiar is a Portuguese rugby union coach and a former player. He played for Grupo Desportivo Direito, where he was also a coach. Aguiar became head coach of the Portugal national team on 13 September 2016 and signed a three-year contract. During his coaching tenure, Portugal participated in qualification for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, but failed to qualify. Also during his tenure, Portugal won the twice the 2017-18 Rugby Europe Trophy and the 2018–19 Rugby Europe Trophy, both with a grand slam, and also the one-game playoff match against Germany (37-32), for a place in the 2020 Rugby Europe Championship. Portugal National Rugby Union Team
The Portugal national rugby union team (Portuguese: Seleção Portuguesa de Rugby), nicknamed Os Lobos (''The Wolves''), represents Portugal in men's international rugby union competitions. The team as well as all rugby union in Portugal is administered by the Federação Portuguesa de Rugby. Portugal qualified for their first Rugby World Cup in 2007 where they were grouped in Pool C along with New Zealand, Italy, Romania and Scotland. They are nicknamed Os Lobos. 2019 Rugby World Cup – Europe Qualification
Qualifying for the 2019 Rugby World Cup for European Rugby began in September 2016, where 5 teams are competing for one direct qualification spot into the final tournament, and a further 26 teams competing, alongside the initial 5 teams, for a place in the 2019 Rugby World Cup – play-off qualifications, Europe/Oceania play-off and or 2019 Rugby World Cup – repechage qualification, repechage. The qualification process came to a chaotic conclusion when 3 of the 5 teams in the 2017 and 2018 editions of the Rugby Europe Championship were effectively disqualified for fielding ineligible players. 2019 Rugby World Cup
The 2019 Rugby World Cup was the ninth edition of the Rugby World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men's rugby union teams. It was hosted in Japan from 20 September to 2 November in 12 venues all across the country. The opening match was played at Ajinomoto Stadium in Chōfu, Tokyo, with the final match being held at International Stadium Yokohama in Yokohama. 2018–19 Rugby Europe Trophy
The 2018–19 Rugby Europe Trophy is the second-level rugby union competition below the premier Championship. It is the third Trophy competition under its new format, that will see Czech Republic, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, and Switzerland compete for the title, and a place in the Championship-Trophy promotion play-off. This year's competition sees Lithuania joining the Trophy after winning the Trophy-Conference 1 promotion play-off against Malta. Patrice Lagisquet (born 4 September 1962) is a former French rugby union footballer and a current coach. He played as a wing. He was nicknamed "The Bayonne Express". Lagisquet was born in Arcachon. He first played at U.A. Gujan-Mestras, until moving to CA Bègles, where he played from 1980/81 to 1981/82. Then, he would represent Aviron Bayonnais, from 1982/83 to 1991/92, and Biarritz Olympique, from 1992/93 to 1996/97, where he would finish his career. He made his international debut against Australia on 13 November 1983 at the Parc des Sports Marcel Michelin in Clermont Ferrand. France leading 9–6 at half time eventually drew the game 15-15.
