Martha Montaner
Martha Silvana Montaner Formoso (6 January 1955 – 9 March 2016) was a Uruguayan politician of the Colorado Party. Biography Martha Montaner was the daughter of Dora Formoso and the politician . First he and then she led the group of list 2215 in Tacuarembó Department. Martha studied dentistry and specialized in pediatric dentistry. She was elected deputy for the in Tacuarembó Department in 1994 and 1999. She joined the so-called "women's caucus", seeking the promotion of political participation and the rights of women, along with fellow deputies Beatriz Argimón, Raquel Barreiro, Nora Castro, Silvana Charlone, Margarita Percovich, Yeanneth Puñales, María Alejandra Rivero Saralegui, Glenda Rondán, Diana Saravia Olmos, Lucía Topolansky, and Daisy Tourné. Tacuarembó ( Guarani: ''Takuarembo'', literally: "Bamboo shoot") is the capital city of the Tacuarembó Department in north-central Uruguay. Location and geography The city is located on Km. 390 of Route 5, south-southwest of Rivera, the capital city of the Rivera Department. Routes 26 and 31 also meet Route 5 within the city limits. The stream Arroyo Tacuarembó Chico, a tributary of Río Tacuarembó, flows through the north part of the city. As of the census of 2011, it is the eighth most populated city of the country. Lucía Topolansky Saavedra (born 25 September 1944) is a Uruguayan politician who served as the 17th Vice President of Uruguay from September 2017 to March 2020. She was a Senator from 2005 to 2017. Cancer
Cancer is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body. These contrast with benign tumors, which do not spread. Possible signs and symptoms include a lump, abnormal bleeding, prolonged cough, unexplained weight loss, and a change in bowel movements. While these symptoms may indicate cancer, they can also have other causes. Over 100 types of cancers affect humans. Tobacco use is the cause of about 22% of cancer deaths. Another 10% are due to obesity, poor diet, lack of physical activity or excessive drinking of alcohol. 2014 Uruguayan General Election
General elections were held in Uruguay on 26 October 2014, alongside a constitutional referendum. As no presidential candidate received an absolute majority in the first round of voting, a runoff took place on 30 November. Primary elections to determine each party's presidential candidate had been held on 1 June. Incumbent President José Mujica was ineligible to run owing to a constitutional limit on serving consecutive terms. The governing Broad Front nominated Mujica's predecessor, Tabaré Vázquez, as its candidate. Vázquez came within a few thousand votes of a first-round victory and advanced to the runoff with National Party candidate Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou, son of former president Luis Alberto Lacalle de Herrera. In the runoff, Vázquez was returned to office with the widest margin since the run-off system was first implemented in 1999.
