Marshall Burke
Marshall Burke (born 26 March 1959) is a Scottish former footballer. He played for Burnley, Leeds United, Blackburn Rovers, Lincoln City, Cardiff City, Tranmere Rovers and Scarborough. He was part of the Colne Dynamoes team which won the 1987–88 FA Vase competition. Post-football career Burke has worked for over 25 years in the brewing industry. He spent several years with Scottish & Newcastle, Chorley, before taking sales positions with Vaux Breweries in Rochdale and Boddingtons (Whitbread), Manchester. In 2000, he joined Thwaites Brewery, firstly as key accounts manager before becoming sales manager for the free trade. Moorhouse's is an independent brewery founded in 1865, by William Moorhouse in Burnley Lancashire, England, as a producer of mineral waters and low-alcohol beers known as hop bitters. It first produced cask ales in 1978. Products The brewery produces cask ale and filtered beer in bottles. History The business was founded in 1865 by William Moorhouse as a producer of mineral waters. The business was successful and by 1870 Moorhouse had a purpose built building erected in Moorhouse Street off Accrington Road, Burnley which incorporated stables for the delivery horses and houses for the workers and Moorhouse family. Thwaites Brewery
Thwaites Brewery is a regional brewery founded in 1807 by Daniel Thwaites in Blackburn, Lancashire, England, and now located near Mellor in the Ribble Valley. Part of the company's beer business was sold to Marston's in March 2015, and the original brewery facility was demolished in 2019. Today, Thwaites still produces beer, but in much smaller quantities. In 1999, the Mitchell brewery in Lancaster closed down, and was bought in part by Thwaites. Lancaster Bomber, an English ale named in honor of the Avro Lancaster, has since been available from Thwaites public houses after being acquired in the takeover. The Football Association Challenge Vase, usually referred to as the FA Vase, is an annual football competition for teams playing in Steps 5 and 6 of the English National League System (or equivalently, tier 9 or 10 of the overall English football league system). For the 2017–18 season 619 entrants were accepted, with two qualifying rounds preceding the six proper rounds, semi-finals (played over two legs) and final to be played at Wembley Stadium. Colne () is a market town and civil parish in the Borough of Pendle in Lancashire, England. Located northeast of Nelson, north-east of Burnley, east of Preston and west of Leeds. The town should not be confused with the unrelated Colne Valley around the River Colne near Huddersfield in West Yorkshire. Colne is close to the southern entrance to the Aire Gap, the lowest crossing of the Pennine watershed.
