Marseille Festival Of Documentary Film
Marseille International Film Festival (in French the Festival international de cinéma de Marseille or FIDMarseille) is a documentary film festival held yearly since 1989 in Marseille, France. The festival awards grand prizes in international and national categories. The 2009 competition featured 20 documentaries in the international category and 14 in the French category. Simone Bitton
Simone Bitton (born 1955) is a French-Moroccan documentary filmmaker. Her films have been nominated for or won the César Award, the Marseille Festival of Documentary Film Award, and the Sundance Film Festival, Special Jury Prize (for ''Mur''). Personal life Bitton was born the daughter of a Jewish jeweller in Morocco. She describes herself as a Mizrahi Jew. Documentary Film Festivals
Documentary film festivals are film festivals devoted solely to documentary film, which is a broad category of visual expression that is based on the attempt, in one fashion or another, to "document" reality. Although "documentary film" originally referred to movies shot on film stock, it has subsequently expanded to include video and digital productions that can be either direct-to-video or made for a television series. Documentary, as it applies here, works to identify a "filmmaking practice, a cinematic tradition, and mode of audience reception" that is continually evolving and is without clear boundaries. Chantal Anne Akerman (; 6 June 19505 October 2015) was a Belgian film director, screenwriter, artist, and Film studies, film professor at the City College of New York. Eduardo Coutinho
Eduardo de Oliveira Coutinho (May 11, 1933 – February 2, 2014) was a Brazilian film director, screen writer, actor and film producer, known as one of the most important documentarists in Brazil. He directed and wrote the script to the 1967 popular Brazilian film, '' ABC do amor'' near the beginning of his career. The film was entered into the 17th Berlin International Film Festival. He died on February 2, 2014, in a suspected murder in Rio de Janeiro. His son, who has schizophrenia, is a prime suspect in the ongoing investigation. O, or o, is the fifteenth letter and the fourth vowel letter in the Latin alphabet, used in the modern English alphabet, the alphabets of other western European languages and others worldwide. ''Tie Xi Qu: West of the Tracks'' ( , 铁西区) is a 2002 Chinese documentary film by Wang Bing. Over nine hours long, the film consists of three parts: "Rust," "Remnants" and "Rails." ''Tie Xi Qu'' was filmed over the course of two years between 1999 and 2001 and details the slow decline of Shenyang's industrial Tiexi district, an area that was once a vibrant example of China's socialist economy. ''In Public'' () is a short documentary film directed by Jia Zhangke, a Chinese cinema " Sixth Generation" movement filmmaker. ''In Public'' was shot on digital video for the 2001 Jeonju International Film Festival. In many ways, the film was a test-run for the feature length fiction film ''Unknown Pleasures''. Both films are shot digitally (a medium Jia would return to in '' Still Life'' (2006) and ''24 City'' (2008)), both are set in the city of Datong, and both share the same shooting locations. Patricio Guzmán Lozanes (born August 11, 1941) is a Chilean documentary film director. He is most known for his films ''The Battle of Chile'' (1975-1979) and ''Salvador Allende'' (2004).
