Sir Marrack Goulding KCMG (2 September 19369 July 2010) was a British diplomat who served more than eleven years as Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations. Early life Born in Plymouth in Devon, England, to Sir Irvine Goulding, a High Court judge. Goulding attended St Paul's School in London and later studied '' Literae Humaniores'' at Magdalen College, Oxford. Career HM Diplomatic Service Goulding entered HM Diplomatic Service in 1959 and was, in 1961, posted to the British Embassy in Kuwait. He returned to the United Kingdom in 1964, where he worked in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. In 1968, he was once more posted overseas, as the Head of Chancery of the British Embassy in Tripoli, Libya, and later of the Embassy in Cairo, Egypt. ''Echo Beach'' is a British soap opera that aired on ITV in 2008. Set in the fictional Cornish coastal town of Polnarren, it ran for twelve episodes from 10 January to 21 March 2008. The show was created by Tony Jordan and produced by Kudos for ITV. Synopsis ''Echo Beach'' was inter-linked with a show named ''Moving Wallpaper'', a comedy-drama set in the fictional production offices of ''Echo Beach''. ''Echo Beach'' was shown immediately after ''Moving Wallpaper'' in the schedule, with ''Moving Wallpaper'' airing at 9 pm on Fridays and ''Echo Beach'' airing at 9.30 pm. Although initially intended to be shown on ITV2, straight after ''Moving Wallpaper'' on ITV, the decision was made to have both on ITV. Hugh Marrack
Rear Admiral Hugh Richard Marrack (5 July 1888 – 12 February 1972) was a submarine specialist serving in the British Royal Navy, who commanded both the Portland and China Submarine flotillas and was Commodore Superintendent, Gibraltar, 1943–45. Marrack later became an ADC to King George VI. Early life Hugh Marrack was born in Walton in Gordano, Somerset, the fourth child of John Reed Marrack and his wife Mary (nee Saunders). He was educated at Blundell's School in Tiverton, before joining the Royal Navy as a cadet on 15 January 1903, being trained aboard HMS ''Britannia''. Professor John Richardson Marrack, DSO, MC (26 November 1886 – 1976) was the Emeritus Professor of Chemical Pathology in the University of London, visiting professor to the University of Texas and known for his book ''Antigens and Antibodies'' (1934). Early life Marrack was born in Clevedon in Somerset and educated at Blundell's School in Tiverton, St John's College in Cambridge and at the London Hospital Medical College. Marrack served in the RAMC from 1914 to 1919 and was appointed Medical Officer on Poison Gas to the British Army. Marrack was a John Lucas Walker Student and a Beir Memorial Fellow at Cambridge University and later a Fellow of St John's College. He received the Distinguished Service Award of the First International Congress of Immunology in 1971.
