Marquard Rudolf Reichsritter von Rodt zu Bußmannshausen, or Roth (9 April 1644, Konstanz, Holy Roman Empire – 10 July or 6 October 1704, Hegne) was, from 1689 to 1704, the prince-bishop of the Bishopric of Constance. Konstanz Minster or Konstanz Cathedral (german: Konstanzer Münster) is a historical building in Konstanz, southern Germany, the proto-cathedral of the former Roman Catholic diocese of Konstanz (dissolved in 1821). History The first mention of a church in Konstanz dedicated to the Virgin Mary was in 615. Documentary confirmation of the Episcopal church Ecclesia sanctae Mariae urbis Constantiae is dated to the mid 8th century. Early life Johann Franz Schenk von Stauffenberg was born in Lautlingen on 18 February 1658 as the fourth son of Wolfgang Friedrich Schenk von Stauffenberg (1612-1676) and his wife, Anna Barbara von Wernau (1632-1681). Biography He was made a canon of Konstanz Cathedral in 1667. He studied in Dillingen an der Donau until 1675. His father died in 1676 and his mother at 1681, after which time his uncles Hans Georg von Wernau and Franz Wilhelm von Stain acted as his guardians. He became a canon of Augsburg Cathedral in 1682. Johannes Wolfgang Reichsfreiherr von Bodman (January 19, 1651 – September 29, 1691) was auxiliary bishop of Konstanz (Germany) from 1686 until he died in 1691.
