Maroochydore Australian Football Club is an Australian rules football club based at Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland which competes in AFL Queensland leagues in South East Queensland. Their men's team have been playing in the QAFL since 2020 and their women's team have been playing in the QAFLW since 2017. History Origins The Maroochydore Australian Football Club was formed to compete in the Sunshine Coast Australian Football League. This was an amateur competition that was formed in 1970 and continued until 1992. Other foundation clubs were Noosa and Nambour. In 1993, the clubs from the competition played in the Brisbane Australian Football League, and later split up into various AFL South Queensland Divisions.Roos go own way

Australian Rules Football In South East Queensland
Australian rules football in South East Queensland has a varied history and many changes were made especially in the 21st century. Ruled and organised by the AFL Queensland, the region had a total of 46 teams playing in different divisions.SEQ teams and competitions

Occasionally inter-zone matches are held with separate South East Queensland representative sides taking part, they include the "Gold Coast Stingrays", the "Suncoast Power", the "Western Taipans", and the "Northern Raiders". Additionally when the South East competes together they are known as the "South East Bushrangers".

Carter Michael
Carter Michael (born 22 May 2002) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Michael was raised on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. He attended Auskick at the Sunshine Coast. Carter played both junior and senior football with Maroochydore in the ( QAFL). Bella Smith (footballer, Born 2003)
Bella R. Smith (born 20 September 2001) is a professional Australian rules footballer who plays for Sydney in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She played for Norwood in the SANFL Women's League (SANFLW) before she was signed to an AFLW contract by Collingwood as an undrafted free agent. Early life and state football Smith was born in the town Port Lincoln in the Eyre Peninsula. She played junior football for Ports Netball Football Club. In 2016, she represented South Australia at the Australian Football Under 15 Championship in Maroochydore, wearing the number 20 guernsey, like her father. After this she started playing for Norwood's under-16 side. All together Smith played three seasons for Norwood in the SANFL Women's League (SANFLW). After playing 10 matches in 2019, she decided to focus on playing football. Mikayla Pauga
Mikayla Pauga (born 10 April 2003) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for Greater Western Sydney in the AFL Women's (AFLW). She previously played for Brisbane, with whom she won a premiership in 2023. Pauga is from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland and played with the Maroochydore Football Club prior to moving to the Gold Coast and playing with Bond University in the QAFLW and awarded the Riewoldt Family AFL Excellence Scholarship as part of the Brisbane Lions Academy before being drafted by the Lions. Pauga made her AFLW debut against Richmond on 24 September 2022 at the Punt Road Oval.
