Marmat (tehsil)
Marmat is a tehsil in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Marmat consists of 18 villages, including the village of Marmat. It is 45 kilometres south of the district headquarters of Doda. Demographics According to the census of 2011, Marmat has a population of 28,501 (14,632 males and 13,869 females). The sex ratio is 992 females per 1,000 males. The sex ratio among scheduled tribes exceeds the rural district-wide sex ratio of 929 females per 1,000 males by as many as four blocks. Local Wildlife Himalayan Black Bear (''Selenarctos thibetanus'') While the Himalayan Black Bear was quite common in Marmat, its population has experienced a sharp decline due to poaching. Doda District
Doda is a district in the eastern part of Jammu Division in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The district consists of 18 tehsils viz. Thathri, Bhaderwah, Doda, Mohalla, Bhagwa, Assar, Bhalla, Gundna, Marmat, Kahara, Gandoh (Bhalessa), Bhella, Bharth Bagla, Chiralla, Chilly Pingal, Phagsoo and Kastigarh. The climate of the area is not uniform due to wide variations in altitude from place to place. The area, in general, enjoys temperate to sub-tropical type of climate. Tehsil

Batote
Batote is a town and a notified area committee, near Ramban town in Ramban district of Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir on NH 44 (former name NH 1A) just beyond Ramban, Patnitop while going towards Srinagar. Tourism Batote is located on the national highway NH 44 from Jammu to Srinagar at . It has an average elevation of 1,555 metres (6,584 feet). Batote is very green and has many mountains. People of this town is so friendly. It also has a small city centre where you can find many necessary things. You can spend your summers here; it hardly reaches 32°C in summer. Bird

Koklass Pheasant
The koklass pheasant (''Pucrasia macrolopha'') is a species of gamebird, being closely related to progenitive grouse that lived during the Miocene. They are distantly related to pheasants and are most closely related to grouse and turkeys. Koklass are the only species in the monotypic genus ''Pucrasia''. Both the words ''koklass'' and ''pucrasia'' have been onomatopœically derived from the bird's territorial call. Koklass are boreal adapted species which separate into three distinct species groups. Macaque

Gray Langur
Gray langurs, also called Hanuman langurs and Hanuman monkeys, are Old World monkeys native to the Indian subcontinent constituting the genus ''Semnopithecus''. Poaching
Poaching has been defined as the illegal hunting or capturing of wild animals, usually associated with land use rights. Poaching was once performed by impoverished peasants for subsistence purposes and to supplement meager diets. It was set against the hunting privileges of nobility and territorial rulers. Since the 1980s, the term "poaching" has also been used to refer to the illegal harvesting of wild plant species. Asian Black Bear

Census Block
A census block is the smallest geographic unit used by the United States Census Bureau for tabulation of 100-percent data (data collected from all houses, rather than a sample of houses).
