Palmerston is a planned satellite city of Darwin, the capital and largest city in Australia's Northern Territory. The city is situated approximately 20 kilometres from Darwin and 10 kilometres from Howard Springs and the surrounding rural areas. Palmerston had a population of 33,695 at the 2016 census, making it the second largest city in the Northern Territory. Electoral Division Of Goyder
Goyder is an electoral division of the Legislative Assembly in Australia's Northern Territory. It was first created in 1990, and is named after George Goyder, the South Australian surveyor responsible for carrying out the first freehold surveys in the area. Goyder encompasses large rural areas south of Darwin, covering 9,770 km², and taking in the towns of Bees Creek, Cox Peninsula, Virginia, Marlows Lagoon and parts of Berry Springs and Humpty Doo. When first created, it was even larger extending south to Pine Creek and east to Jabiru and the whole of Kakadu National Park. There were 5,583 people enrolled in the electorate as of August 2020. Goyder was considered a staunch conservative electorate and a very safe seat for the Country Liberal Party for most of its history. The Division of Solomon is an Australian Electoral Division in the Northern Territory. It is largely coextensive with the Darwin/Palmerston metropolitan area. __NOTOC__ Tivendale is a suburb in the Northern Territory of Australia located in Darwin about east of Darwin City. Tivendale consists of land bounded partly by the Tiger Brennan Drive in the north and the Adelaide-Darwin Railway in the north-east and the east, and partly in the south by the Hudson Creek. The name is derived from a nearby road called Tivendale Road which is itself named after Lyle Mason Tivendale, a Northern Territory resident who worked as a stock and meat inspector and as a health inspector during the first half of the twentieth century. The suburb’s boundary and name were gazetted on 21 April 2004. The 2016 Australian census which was conducted in August 2016 reports that Tivendale had no people living within its boundaries. Durack is an inner-city suburb of Palmerston. It is 22 km southeast of the Darwin CBD. Its local government area is the City of Palmerston. Durack is bound to the north by the Stuart Highway; to the west and south is University Avenue, and to the east is Roystonea Avenue. The suburb consists mostly of recent developments, beginning in the early 1990s, and includes three estates as designated by the developers of the area: Fairway Waters, The Mews, and The Heights. Elrundie consists of land associated with a peninsula known as the Elrundie Peninsula and part of the channels of the following waterbodies that bound the peninsula's coastline: the Hudson Creek to the north-west, the Elizabeth River to the south-west and the Myrmidon Creek to the south-east.
