Cantharidae
The soldier beetles (Cantharidae) are relatively soft-bodied, straight-sided beetles. They are cosmopolitan in distribution. One of the first described species has a color pattern reminiscent of the Red coat (British army), red coats of early British soldiers, hence the common name. They are also known commonly as leatherwings because of their soft elytron, elytra. Historically, these beetles were placed in a superfamily "Cantharoidea", which has been subsumed by the superfamily Elateroidea; the name is still sometimes used as a rankless grouping, including the families Cantharidae, Lampyridae, Lycidae, Omethidae (which includes Telegeusidae), Phengodidae, and Rhagophthalmidae. Soldier beetles often feed on both nectar and pollen as well as predating other small insects. USS ''Marcus'' (DD-321) was a built for the United States Navy after World War I. Namesake Arnold Marcus was born on 26 June 1892 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He was appointed a midshipman on 22 May 1909. He assumed command of the submarine on 13 March 1917. On 27 July 1917, Lieutenant (junior grade) Marcus died from injuries suffered during an explosion on ''Shark'', while the submarine was on patrol in Manila Bay, Philippine Islands. He was the last man to leave the ship, remaining on board to ensure the safe evacuation of his crew and to attempt the grounding of his ship to prevent sinking. Marcus Center
The Marcus Performing Arts Center is a performing arts center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. Managed by a non-profit organization, it is marketed as Milwaukee's premier presenter of the performing arts. It is located at 929 North Water Street, at the intersection of State Street in downtown Milwaukee, and is a dedicated War Memorial. Several local companies are resident partners of the Marcus Performing Arts Center, including the Florentine Opera, Milwaukee Ballet, First Stage Children's Theater, Black Arts MKE, and other local arts organizations, and it was also the home of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra from 1969 until 2020. The venue is also the presenter of the Johnson Financial Group Broadway at the Marcus Center series through Broadway Across America. Marcus Amphitheater
The American Family Insurance Amphitheater (formerly known as the Marcus Amphitheater) is an amphitheater on the south end of the Henry Maier Festival Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The amphitheater serves as the venue for headlining acts performing at Summerfest. It also plays host to a variety of concerts and events during the spring, summer and fall. History The Marcus Amphitheater was built after an extremely overcrowded Huey Lewis and the News concert in 1984, which drew 30,000 fans to a space suited for 15,000. The amphitheatre has a capacity of 23,000 (9,200 seats under pavilion, 7,000 reserved seats on lawn and 6,800 general admission seats). It was completed in 1987, with the principal contribution from the Marcus Corporation. In September 2018, demolition began on the original Marcus Amphitheater which would be replaced with a new $50 million American Family Insurance Amphitheater.
