Ostallgäu
Ostallgäu is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in Swabia, Bavaria, Germany. It is bounded by (from the west and clockwise) the districts of Oberallgäu, Unterallgäu, Augsburg, Landsberg, Weilheim-Schongau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and by the Austrian state of Tyrol. The town of Kaufbeuren is enclosed by but does not belong to the district. History Before 1803 the region was split into several tiny states, most of them clerical states. When these states were dissolved in 1803, the Ostallgäu region became part of Bavaria. The kings of Bavaria soon developed a special relationship with the region and built their famous castles of Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein there. Franz Hössler
Franz Hößler, also Franz Hössler (; 4 February 1906 – 13 December 1945) was a Nazi German SS-''Obersturmführer'' and ''Schutzhaftlagerführer'' at the Auschwitz-Birkenau, Dora-Mittelbau and Bergen-Belsen concentration camps during World War II. Captured by the Allies at the end of the war, Hößler was charged with war crimes in the First Bergen-Belsen Trial, found guilty, and sentenced to death. He was executed by hanging at Hameln Prison in 1945. Early life Hößler was born in 1906 in the town of Oberdorf, today Marktoberdorf, in the Schwabenland of the German Empire. The son of a foreman, he quit school early to become a photographer. Later employed as a warehouse worker, he was unemployed during the Great Depression of the 1930s. Kevin Volland (born 30 July 1992) is a German professional footballer who plays as a striker or a winger for Ligue 1 club Monaco and the Germany national team. NATO Science For Peace
The NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme is a NATO programme supporting civil science cooperation and innovation. Created in 2006 as the merger of the NATO Science Committee (SCOM) and the Committee on the Challenges of Modern Society (CCMS), the SPS offers grants to scientists in NATO and NATO Partner countries for work on civil science projects. Partner countries are located in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Grants are also available to scientists in seven countries known as the Mediterranean Dialogue: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Mauritania, Morocco, and Tunisia.
