Markt Schwaben–Erding Railway
The Markt Schwaben–Erding railway is a 13.63 km-long branch line in Upper Bavaria in Germany and now part of line S 2 of the Munich S-Bahn. Erding made an unsuccessful bid for the Munich–Mühldorf railway to run through the town; instead it was built a few kilometres south of the town. Other suggested links (to Freising, Passau or Rosenheim) were rejected by the railway board. On 8 March 1869, it was announced that the town would be connected to the railway network by a secondary railway (then called a ''Vizinalbahn'' in Bavaria) from Schwaben (now Markt Schwaben) to Erding. The contract for the construction of this railway was signed on 9 May 1870 by the town of Erding and the Head Office of the Royal Transport Institution (german: Generaldirektion der königlichen Verkehrsanstalten). DB Netz
DB Netz AG is a major subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn that owns and operates a majority of the German railway system (2019: 33,291 km). The Munich S-Bahn (german: S-Bahn München) is an Railway electrification system, electric rail transit system in Munich, Germany. "S-Bahn" is the German abbreviation for ''Stadtschnellbahn'' (literally, "urban rapid rail"), and the Munich S-Bahn exhibits characteristics of both rapid transit and commuter rail systems. Freising Station
Freising station is located in the Town#Germany, town of Freising in the German state of Bavaria. It is located a few hundred metres to the south of the Domberg ("Freising Cathedral, cathedral hill") on the southern edge of the old town. History The station was opened in 1858 during the construction of the Munich–Regensburg railway, line from Munich to Landshut. In 1859 this was extended to Regensburg Central Station, Regensburg. The line to Landshut Central Station, Landshut was duplicated in 1891/92. The section from Munich to Freising was electrified in 1925; this was completed to Regensburg in 1927. The Royal Bavarian State Railways (''Königliche Bayerische Staats-Eisenbahnen'' or ''K.Bay.Sts.B.'') was the state railway company for the Kingdom of Bavaria. It was founded in 1844. Markt Schwaben
Markt Schwaben is a town in Bavaria, Germany. It lies roughly 23 km east of Munich on the northern edge of the Upper Bavarian district of Ebersberg. Neighbouring communities are Anzing, Forstinning, Pliening and Poing, (all in Ebersberg district) as well as Finsing, Ottenhofen and Pastetten (all in Erding district).
