Cambridge Mosque
The Cambridge Central Mosque is Europe's first eco-friendly mosque and the first purpose-built mosque within the city of Cambridge, England. Its mandate is to meet the needs of the Muslim community in the UK and beyond by facilitating good practice in faith, community development, social cohesion and interfaith dialogue. The Cambridge Central Mosque was opened to the public on 24 April 2019. Background The Muslim Academic Trust (MAT) proposed the site location to be situated in the Romsey area of Mill Road in Cambridge. White Horse Bridge
The White Horse Bridge is a footbridge that crosses the tracks at Wembley Stadium railway station leading up to Wembley Stadium in Wembley Park, England. It was designed by Steve Chilton for architects Marks Barfield and engineered by Halcrow. It replaced an old concrete footbridge which was probably built for the British Empire Exhibition. The project also included the construction of a public square. The bridge's name was chosen in May 2005 after a BBC Five Live poll. It is named after a grey (though appearing white in old black and white photographs and films) Metropolitan Police horse, named 'Billy', that was used to restore order after the huge numbers of spectators (estimated at between 200,000 and 300,000) who turned up to witness the 1923 FA Cup Final spilled onto the pitch before kick off. Michael Tippett School
Heron Academy (formerly The Michael Tippett School) is a special needs secondary school for students with severe learning difficulties located in south London. It was previously named after the composer Michael Tippett. The building was designed by Marks Barfield Architect and completed in 2008. It can accommodate 80 students between the age of 11 and 19. It was built as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme and was the first school in London and the first special needs school in the country to be completed under the programme. The Lightbox
The Lightbox is a public gallery and museum located in Woking, Surrey, in the South East of England. Three galleries host a range of exhibitions, changing regularly and it has a free museum of local history - 'Woking's Story'. It was opened on 14 September 2007. Overview Located in the centre of Woking on the banks of the Basingstoke Canal, The Lightbox was built to provide arts and heritage services to the local region and beyond. The project began in 1993 when a group of local volunteers decided to try and establish a cultural centre in the Woking area. Following a fundraising campaign the contemporary building was designed by Marks Barfield Architects, the architects behind the London Eye. In 2008 it won the Art Fund Prize Museum of the Year award, and in 2016 it was awarded a Green Tourism silver award. Millbank Millennium Pier
Millbank Pier is a pier on the west bank of the River Thames, in London, United Kingdom. It is served by boats operating under licence from London River Services and is situated between Lambeth Bridge and Vauxhall Bridge on Millbank. It is accessed from a point adjacent to Millbank Tower and the Tate Britain art gallery. Services The pier is served by the Tate-to-Tate river bus service and that links the Tate Britain with the Tate Modern Gallery via a Thames boat service. London Eye Pier
The London Eye Pier is directly in front of the London Eye Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames in Central London, England. It was opened as the Waterloo Millennium Pier in 2000. It is served by various river transport and cruise operators. It should not be confused with the former Waterloo Police Pier, on the opposite side of the river on Victoria Embankment next to Waterloo Bridge, which has since been renamed the Tower Lifeboat Station and has been the base for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, RNLI's Thames Lifeboat (rescue), lifeboat service since 2006.
