Markosia is a British comic book publishing company. History Markosia was founded by Harry Markos in 2004. He employed Richard Emms (previously of APC) as the Editor-in-chief as well as lead designer. in 2005. Markosia had already published Harry Gallan's '' The Lexian Chronicles'' novel and the initial plan was to produce comic adaptations of novels, such as ''The Lexian Chronicles'' and G.P. Taylor's ''Shadowmancer''. They subsequently secured the license to adapt ''Starship Troopers'', leading to a broadening in the business plan. This would further expand when Markosia brought Chuck Satterlee on board as Director of Operations. Satterlee moved over from Speakeasy Comics after their troubles in 2006 and he assisted in bringing over a number of titles with him, giving Markosia a range of original comic titles. Speakeasy Comics
Speakeasy Comics was a Canadian publishing company of comic books and graphic novels which operated from 2004–2006. Based in Toronto, Ontario, Speakeasy published monthly comics, creator-owned independent series, original graphic novels, and collected out-of-print creator-owned comics series that had originated with other companies. Its best-known titles were '' Atomika'', '' Beowulf'', '' The Grimoire'', and '' Rocketo''. Although Speakeasy made a big public relation splash and announced a large lineup of monthly titles, it had trouble almost from the beginning in following through with its plans. Andrew Foley (writer)
Andrew Foley is a writer and occasional editor and artist of comic books and graphic novels. Andrew Foley lives in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with his wife, graphic designer Tiina Andreakos. Biography Early life Foley graduated with distinction from the Alberta College of Art's Drawing Program in 1992 and maintained a painting studio for two years afterward, during which his work was displayed in galleries and museums across the province of Alberta, before deciding to move into writing. Career Andrew's first published comics work was the eight-page short story "Cal's Trick", which he wrote and drew for Cyberosia Publishing's ''Combustible Muse'' Anthology. Con Chrisoulis is a Greek multidisciplinary artist and academic, most famous for his graphic novels, '' Tales of The Smiths'', ''Dryland'', ''Giant-Size Fascists'', and ''Rebel Rebel''. Lee Garbett is a British comic book artist born in the West Midlands. He has worked on British comics. As of February 2011, he is working freelance after a period of exclusivity with DC Comics. Career He created the 4-issue mini-series ''Dark Mists'' with Annika Eade, which follows a group of Geisha blackmailed into becoming assassins. After AP Comics folded the title was picked up and reprinted by Markosia. Alan Grant (9 February 194920 July 2022) was a British comic book writer known for writing Judge Dredd in '' 2000 AD'' as well as various Batman titles from the late 1980s to the early 2000s. He was the co-creator of the characters Anarky, Victor Zsasz, and the Ventriloquist. Career Early career and ''2000 AD'' Grant first entered the comics industry in 1967 when he became an editor for D.C. Thomson before moving to London from Dundee in 1970 to work for IPC on various romance magazines.
