Jack Markell
Jack Alan Markell (born November 26, 1960) is an American politician who currently serves as the United States ambassador to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. He previously served as the 73rd governor of Delaware from 2009 to 2017. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Markell served three terms as the state treasurer of Delaware from 1999 to 2009. After term-limited Governor Ruth Ann Minner was prevented from running for reelection, Markell announced his intention to run. He defeated lieutenant governor of Delaware John Carney with 51% of the vote in the Democratic primary, and defeated the Republican nominee, former Delaware Superior Court judge William Swain Lee, with 67% of the vote in the 2008 general election, becoming Delaware's first Jewish governor. Markell A. Jones (born September 26, 1996) is a former American football running back for the Purdue Boilermakers. He rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown on twelve carries (6.0 yards per carry) in his first college game on September 6, 2015. Early years A native of Columbus, Indiana, Jones attended Columbus East High School in that city. As a high school junior in 2013, he rushed for over 2,600 yards and 42 touchdowns while helping Columbus East to a state championship. On June 24, 2014, Jones committed to playing football at Purdue University with an announcement on Twitter. Jones stated, "Just because there's no other place, another school that is better for me than Purdue." Jones also announced his plans to enroll at Purdue in January, 2015. Patchen Markell (born August 30, 1969) is an associate professor of political science at Cornell University. He received a Ph.D. in Political Science from Harvard University in 1999 and a B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from University of California, Berkeley in 1992. His research interests include a range of issues in contemporary social and political theory. He has written and taught on subjects such as action and responsibility, agency, theories of democracy, gender and sexuality, and the role of affect in politics, as well as on figures such as Hegel, Marx, Hannah Arendt, Habermas, and Aristotle. Harry Duquesne "Duke" Markell (born Henri Duquesne Makowski, August 17, 1923 – June 14, 1984) was a French-born American professional baseball player, a pitcher whose career extended from 1945–1957, almost exclusively in minor league baseball. He appeared in five Major League games for the St. Louis Browns in the closing weeks of the season. Born in Paris, France, he moved to The Bronx, New York City with his family when he was seven years old. Markell stood tall and weighed . He was Jewish.
