Markaryd Municipality
Markaryd Municipality (''Markaryds kommun'') is a municipality in south-west Kronoberg County in southern Sweden, where the town Markaryd is seat. In 1916 a part of the rural municipality of Markaryd was detached from it, forming a market town (''köping'') with the same name. The two entities were reunited in 1960. The present municipality was created in 1971, when ''Traryd'' and Markaryd were amalgamated. Geography The nature is mainly dominated by forests, as usually in Småland, but there are also significant agricultural areas. Stretching from the northern to the southern parts is the river Lagan, making up the foundation of the water system with opportunities for fishing, canoeing and camping. There are also specific areas created for walks in forest and wildlife nature, and just east of the town Markaryd is a possibility for moose safari, arranged by Smalandet. European route E4 passes from north to south through Sweden from the border with Finland, with a total length of . The Finnish part lies entirely within Tornio in northern Finland, and is only long. The Swedish part traverses most of Sweden except the extreme north and the west coast region, and is commonly considered the highway backbone of Sweden, since it passes in the vicinity of many of its largest cities and through the capital Stockholm. In particular, it is the mainline road used by most vehicle traffic, both cars and lorries, between the north (Norrland) and south of Sweden or beyond. Laholm Municipality
Laholm () is a town and the seat of Laholm Municipality, Halland County, Sweden, with 6,527 inhabitants in 2015. Laholm is, despite its small population, for historical reasons often still referred to as a ''city''. The town is located at the estuary of the river Lagan in the Bay of Laholm. Örkelljunga Municipality (''Örkelljunga kommun'') is a municipality in Skåne County in southern Sweden. Its seat is located in the town Örkelljunga. The present municipality was formed in 1971 through the amalgamation of "old" ''Örkelljunga'' with ''Skånes-Fagerhult'' In sports, there is one team of national recognition and the pride of the town: Örkelljunga Volleybollklubb. Hässleholm Municipality (''Hässleholms kommun'') is a municipality in Scania County in southern Sweden. Its seat is located in the city Hässleholm. The present municipality was created in 1974 when the former ''City of Hässleholm,'' itself incorporated in 1914, was amalgamated with seven surrounding municipalities. In 1863, there were 29 local government units, all rural, in the area. The municipal coat of arms was granted in 1920 and registered for the new municipality in 1974. Älmhult Municipality
Älmhult Municipality (''Älmhults kommun'') is a municipality in central Kronoberg County in southern Sweden, where the town of Älmhult is seat. In 1901 Älmhult was detached from ''Stenbrohult'' and made a market town (''köping''). The present municipality was created by the local government reform of 1971, when Älmhult was amalgamated with the surrounding rural municipalities. Of historical significance is that the botanist Carl von Linné was born and grew up in the parish of Stenbrohult in the early 18th century. Today, the estate where he was born and lived his first months has been turned into a museum at Råshult, still surrounded by the same meadows and fields it was 300 years ago. Allegedly, the area has a variety of different specimens of plants, likely to trigger the interest of a botanical minded youngster. An urban area or () in Sweden has a minimum of 200 inhabitants and may be a city, town or larger village. It is a purely statistical concept, not defined by any municipal or county boundaries.
