Sebastian Marka
Sebastian Marka (born 1978 in Geneva, Switzerland) is a German film director and editor. Life and work Sebastian Marka was born in Geneva in 1978 and grew up in Königsbach-Stein near Karlsruhe. After completing his Zivildienst (alternative civilian service), Marka began studying at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in 2001 and graduated in 2005 with a degree in ''Film & Media''. While still being a student, Marka began working as a film editor. He edited commercials, short- and feature films. After graduating, he continued his editing work and was responsible for editing several Television productions such as Unschuldig or 100 Code, an internationally co-produced Swedish crime drama series. In 2010 Marka's short film - thriller Interview was released, for which he received many awards at German and international film festivals. Saskia Marka (née Rüter; born 1975) is a German film title designer, known for her work on the TV series ''Babylon Berlin'', '' The Queen's Gambit'', ''Deutschland 83'', ''Deutschland 86'' and ''Deutschland 89''. Life and work Marka studied communication design at the ''Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design'' (Muthesius Kunsthochschule) in Kiel. Kapidan Marka Gjoni (1861–1925) was the chieftain of the Mirdita region and tribe in North Albania. He was born in Orosh. He was made ''Kaymakam'' of Mirdita by the Ottoman Empire during the absence of Prenk Bib Doda, who was interned in Anatolia due to his participation in the Albanian League of Prizren. With the death of Prenk Bib Doda, who had no male heirs, the Gjonmarkaj lineage passed to Marka Gjoni. Marka Gjoni's initial attempt to claim the title ''Kapedan'' was fraught with difficulties because many of the leaders of Mirdita refused to recognise him, but in time he earned their respect. In 1889, alongside Mons. Doci of Orosh, and at the request of some Catholics in Shkodra, Kapedan Marka Gjoni convinced the Monsignor to conduct the first mass at the church of Our Lady of Shkodra in Bachallek, which had remained closed since Shkodra fell in the hands of the Turks in 1479. The Marka (also Marka Dafing, Meka, or Maraka) people are a Mande people of northwest Mali. They speak the Marka language, a Manding language. The Marka refugee camp ( ar, مخيم ماركا) is one of six emergency camps erected in 1968 to shelter 15,000 Palestinian refugees and displaced persons who left the West Bank and the Gaza Strip as a result of the 1967 Arab-Israeli war. Located in the Marka district of metropolitan Amman, about ten kilometers northeast of the city center, it is known locally as Hittin (حطين) or Schneller and houses 44,879 UNRWA registered refugees and over 17,500 displaced persons.
