Mark Wright (cricketer)
Mark James William Wright (born 1 February 1981) is a cricketer who represents the Hong Kong national team. Wright is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm off break. He was born in Edmonton, London. Wright represented the Middlesex Cricket Board in a single List A match against Berkshire in the 2001 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy. In his only List A match he scored 5 runs and with the ball he took a single wicket at a cost of 13 runs. In 2005, he played his only Minor Counties Championship match for Buckinghamshire against Cumberland. The following season he made his debut for the county in the MCCA Knockout Trophy against Cambridgeshire. Two years later, he played his second and final Trophy match for the county against Dorset. Edmonton is a town in north London, England within the London Borough of Enfield, a local government district of Greater London. The northern part of the town is known as Lower Edmonton or Edmonton Green, and the southern part as Upper Edmonton. The 2009 Hong Kong Cricket Sixes was the fifteenth contesting of the tournament, taking place at Kowloon Cricket Club, Hong Kong. Eight nations competed in twenty-two matches over two days, 31 October – 1 November 2009. South Africa won the tournament, narrowly defeating hosts Hong Kong in the final, after Farhaan Behardien hit the required six off the last ball of the match. Despite losing in the final, Hong Kong's Irfan Ahmed was awarded the Ben Hollioake Trophy, given to the player of the tournament. He played in all seven of Hong Kong's matches, and finished with 163 runs, which was bettered only by England's Peter Trego. The 2014 ICC World Cup Qualifier was a cricket tournament that formed the final part of the Cricket World Cup qualification process for the 2015 World Cup. The top two teams qualified for the World Cup, joining Ireland and for the first time Afghanistan, both of whom already qualified through the 2011–13 ICC World Cricket League Championship and maintained their ODI status.
