Mark Wilson (Artist) (born May 13, 1943 in Cottage Grove, Oregon) is an American digital artist, a painter, and printmaker. He received a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship in 1982, Prix Ars Electronica (Distinction, Computer Graphics) in 1992, and 3 Connecticut Commission on the Arts grants. He has taught, lectured and been visiting artist at University of California at Santa Barbara, Yale, Carnegie-Mellon, and the School of Visual Arts. Cottage Grove, Oregon
Cottage Grove is a city in Lane County, Oregon, United States. Its population was 10,643 at the 2020 census. It is the third largest city in Lane County. It is on Interstate 5, Oregon Route 99, and the main Willamette Valley line of the CORP railroad. History Cottage Grove post office was established in 1855 east of present-day Creswell. It was named by its first postmaster, G. C. Pearce, whose home was in an oak grove. In 1861, the office was moved to the present site of Saginaw; then in the late 1860s, to the southwestern-most part of present-day Cottage Grove, on the west bank of the Coast Fork Willamette River. When the Southern Pacific railroad was built through the area in the 1870s, Cottage Grove station was placed more than half a mile northeast of the post office, on the river's east side. Wittringen Castle
Wittringen Castle or Wittringen House (German: ''Schloss Wittringen'' or ''Haus Wittringen'') is a moated castle in Gladbeck, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. History The noble family ''von Wittringen'' was first mentioned in an official document from 1263. Knight Ludolfus de Witteringe is today believed to have erected the castle around that time. The exact date is, however, unclear. Another document from 1394 mentions Heinrich von Brachtbecke as the castle’s owner. Mary And Leigh Block Museum Of Art
The Block Museum of Art is a free public art museum located on the campus of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. The Block Museum was established in 1980 when Chicago art collectors Mary (daughter of Albert Lasker) and Leigh B. Block (former vice president of Inland Steel Company), donated funds to Northwestern University for the construction of an art exhibition venue. In recognition of their gift, the university named the changing exhibition space the Mary and Leigh Block Gallery. The original conception of the museum was modeled on the German ''kunsthalle'' tradition, with no permanent collection, and a series of changing temporary exhibits.
