Mark Van Der Maarel
Mark van der Maarel (born 12 August 1989) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a right-back. He played for Utrecht, where he has spent his entire professional career. Born in Arnhem, he is of Indonesian descent through his mother, who is from Indonesia. Club career Born in Arnhem, Van der Maarel played for Argon in his youth, and after a spell in the Haarlem youth, he joined FC Utrecht in May 2008. He made his debut on 22 August 2009 in a friendly against non-league side USV Elinkwijk. His first league match was on 20 September at ADO Den Haag, where he replaced the injured Sander Keller after 67 minutes. Due to injuries to regular right back and team captain Tim Cornelisse, he kept his place in the first team and made an impressive contribution to the best start to a season ever for Utrecht. Football Club Utrecht () is a Dutch professional football club based in Utrecht. The club competes in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football, and plays its home matches at the Stadion Galgenwaard. The club was formed in 1970 as a merger between local clubs VV DOS, USV Elinkwijk and Velox. Netherlands National Under-21 Football Team
The Netherlands national under-21 football team is the national under-21 team of the Netherlands and is controlled by the Royal Dutch Football Association. The team competes in the European Under-21 Championship, held every two years. Following the realignment of UEFA's youth competitions in 1976, the Dutch Under-21 team was formed. The team did not have a very good record, failing to qualify for nine of the fifteen tournaments. The team did not enter for the 1978 competition, but since then has reached the semi-finals twice, and qualified for the last eight on three other occasions. Since the under-21 competition rules insist that players must be 21 or under at the start of a two-year competition, technically it is an U-23 competition.
