Mark Turpin (tennis)
Mark Russell Turpin (February 4, 1957 – August 6, 2021) was an American professional tennis player. Turpin, born in Clinton, Oklahoma, was the middle son of Texas Tennis Hall of Fame inductee Jack Turpin and a brother of professional tennis player Jeff Turpin. Raised in Dallas, Turpin was a main draw qualifier for the 1978 US Open and played collegiate tennis for Southern Methodist University, earning All-American honors as a senior in 1979. He competed briefly in professional tennis and had a best singles world ranking of 211. 1980 Grand Prix (tennis)
The 1980 Volvo Grand Prix was a men's professional tennis circuit held that year. It incorporated the four grand slam tournaments, the Grand Prix tournaments. The Grand Prix circuit is a precursor to the ATP Tour. Volvo became the new tour sponsor of the Grand Prix circuit after Colgate-Palmolive decided to end its sponsorship. New Braunfels, Texas
New Braunfels ( ) is a city in Comal and Guadalupe counties in the U.S. state of Texas known for its German Texan heritage. It is the seat of Comal County. The city covers and had a population of 90,403 as of the 2020 Census. A suburb just north of San Antonio, and part of the Greater San Antonio metropolitan area, it was the third-fastest-growing city in the United States from 2010–2020. John Austin (born July 31, 1957) is an American former professional tennis player born in Long Beach, California. He won the Wimbledon mixed doubles championship with his sister, Tracy Austin, in 1980, becoming the first brother and sister team to win a Grand Slam title together. Austin reached a career high singles ranking of world No. 40. He now resides in Los Angeles with his son, Reed, and his wife, Karen. Anand Amritraj
Anand Amritraj (Tamil: ஆனந்த் அம்ரித்ராஜ்; born 20 March 1951) is a former Indian tennis player and businessman. He along with brother Vijay Amritraj led India into the 1974 Davis Cup finals against South Africa and was a part of the Indian team captained by Vijay Amritraj which reached the final of the Davis Cup in 1987 against Sweden. Career Anand Amritraj and his younger brothers, Vijay and Ashok, were among the first Indians to play in top-flight international tour tennis. In 1976, Anand and Vijay were semifinalists in the Wimbledon men's doubles. Paul McNamee (born 12 November 1954) is an Australian former doubles world No. 1 tennis player and prominent sports administrator. Tennis career Juniors In his hometown, McNamee won the boys' singles tournament at the 1973 Australian Open. Pro tour McNamee is the only player to switch a grip as a professional, changing from a one-handed backhand to two-handed in 1979.
