Mark St. Laurent
Mark St. Laurent is an American bass-baritone and served on the Voice Faculty at New England Conservatory from 1989 to 2013. He has sung extensively in oratorio and opera, both in the United States and Europe. He has appeared as a soloist at the Aspen Music Festival, Bach Aria Festival, Boston Lyric Opera, Lake George Opera, Monadnock Music, Indian Hill Symphony, and the Liederkranz Foundation. His past opera performances have included La Bohème, Madame Butterfly, Die Zauberflöte, Don Giovanni, The Barber of Seville, and The Elixir of Love. Bass-baritone
A bass-baritone is a high-lying bass or low-lying "classical" baritone voice type which shares certain qualities with the true baritone voice. The term arose in the late 19th century to describe the particular type of voice required to sing three Wagnerian roles: the title role in ''Der fliegende Holländer'', Wotan/Der Wanderer in the ''Ring Cycle'' and Hans Sachs in '' Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg''. Wagner labelled these roles as ''Hoher Bass'' ("high bass")—see fach for more details. The bass-baritone voice is distinguished by two attributes. First, it must be capable of singing comfortably in a baritonal tessitura. Secondly, however, it needs to have the ripely resonant lower range typically associated with the bass voice. Aspen Music Festival
The Aspen Music Festival and School (AMFS) is a classical music festival held annually in Aspen, Colorado. It is noted both for its concert programming and the musical training it offers to mostly young-adult music students. Founded in 1949, the typical eight-week summer season includes more than 400 classical music events—including concerts by five orchestras, solo and chamber music performances, fully staged opera productions, master classes, lectures, and children's programming—and brings in 70,000 audience members. In the winter, the AMFS presents a small series of recitals and Metropolitan Opera Live in HD screenings. Lake George Opera
Opera Saratoga (until January 2011, named the Lake George Opera) is a professional opera company based in Saratoga Springs, New York. It performs an annual summer festival of three fully staged operas and operettas. The company and its associated Lake George Opera Festival were founded in 1962 by Fred Patrick, a New York-based singer/actor and Juilliard graduate, and the husband of Jeanette Scovotti, a soprano who sang at the Metropolitan Opera.
